    CR-E “250” Project

Ok so 350 A @ 72 V = 25 kW as a peak power. The voltage is 72 V because 20 • 3.6 V = 72 V. ASAIK, thoug, the real voltage of the battery depends on the SoC and according to a datasheet I've just found, for each Samsung 50S cell it ranges from 2.5 V to 4.2 V. So, in theory, you would have 84 V...

    CR-E “250” Project

So those Samsung 50S cells, compared to others of similar price, are more energy dense and less power dense. What happens if someone for example uses that bike in a MX track and asks for current above the value rated for continuous delivery for too long? Will the cells overheat and will the...

Media Review Carson Brown laptime comparison: 500 2T vs Varg @ Pastranaland

You know what occcurs to me when I think about similar considerations? What if battery technology had evolved sooner and everybody were just used to EVs and someone said «hey, I have a revolutionary MX bike here, it uses a kind of motor called the gas engine.» Can you imagine how hard they would...

Maximizing Range for the Stark Varg

The best way in which I can answer is this: if you look at the max power line of an Alpha Varg in the advanced modes screens of the Arkenstone, you will notice that the max available power keeps rising until roughly 7k - 7.5k rpm and then it stops rising. Not exceeding that thereshold should...

Maximizing Range for the Stark Varg

Personally, I have chosen not to use the Svag app, although let me take this opportunity to tell you that I wish I had half of your knowledge in the software field. That said, measuring how much current is used for the d and q axes surely is a reliable method, but I think that a more empirical...

Media Review Carson Brown laptime comparison: 500 2T vs Varg @ Pastranaland

I think that the interesting part starts @6:06 when Pastrana, Brown and Roczen comment about rear brake, engine brake, scrubbing, etc. I've skimmed through the first minutes since it seemed to me that those were all about 2 strokes. I like the fact that you can watch most of the laps in a split...

Maximizing Range for the Stark Varg

Unfortunately, I doubt that the article you linked is relevant for our bikes: they write «This data has been collected and uploaded by the users of one of our electric motor test stands» and if you click the link in that sentence they show a BLDC motor test bench: brushless direct current; the...

    CR-E “250” Project

@Struggle: Is that a hand operated rear brake? Cool if it is! So you have a home made battery whose capacity is roughly 2.5 kWh but you want to use a bigger one. What are you going to do with that smaller home made one? WIll it be used as a swappable battery to extend the range of the new one?

AMA and Electric Motorcycles in AMA/FIM races

The foot operated master cylinder is in the usual location like where you would find it on a regular Varg with foot brake. In both the pictures you can clearly see two calipers but only provided you magnify a lot.

AMA and Electric Motorcycles in AMA/FIM races

Actually, from that paragraph in red font, it seems like they should have had only one rear brake caliper and multiple master cylinders, whereas what I have seen, at least, were two brake calipers. One thing that I've noticed just now is that there were both a foot operated master cylinder and a...

Thinking electric... again... garage full of parts still

The triple clamp is advertised by them to have a 16 mm offset: whereas in my MX 1.0 I've measured a 22 mm offset. Besides, from a side view it looks like the SM axle lug has a smaller offset. I don't know about the distance between the two outer tubes. I suggest that you check the part numbers...

AMA and Electric Motorcycles in AMA/FIM races

I wonder how much engine noise those riders can hear anyways when the crowd is cheering hard. Remember James Stewart in Toronto in 2014? Dozens of thousands of spectators screaming vs 20 motorcycles.

Brake levers go to the bar after sitting

What do you mean by the "sliders"? Do you mean that you make the calipers float? Have you checked that the brake fluid levels aren't getting too low because of worn brake pads? Maybe if they get too low the brakes start sucking air into the reservoirs and when the pistons are pushed in the...
