Varg EX water pump running nonstop

I just took delivery of my EX and noticed that when I turn it on, the water pump starts and never turns off and just keeps running nonstop. The bike is totally cold so I don't understand why the water pump would be running except for a brief startup test.

Is this normal? If not, any ideas on how to troubleshoot? The firmware appears to be updated on the bike.

Yes, the water pump runs whenever the bike is turned on, but the radiator fan cycles on and off based on temperature.

Alta is the same. Runs continuously from start up until turn off.
