I haven't opened mine up yet, sorry. Reading elsewhere that newer KYB's on Beta's are coming with 8mm preload instead of the prior 4mm, and that shops are machining another slot to change that, or going to a shorter spring from Race Tech. Anyone been inside their forks and can confirm this for a Stark?
I'm asking because even though the forks have gotten better with tuning oil level and clickers and break in, they are still not ideal for trail trash such as roots and rocks. I have removed 150cc from each outer chamber, yet still coming up about an inch short of full travel?

Yeah don’t remove that much oil. The min spec is around 300cc. You will cause friction and wear on the bushings and seals. I would check for binding on fork legs by loosening the axel pinch bolts. What’s your weight? You might have wrong springs for your weight.

I'm 230 before gear, with the heaviest springs and compression all the way out. I have never felt bottoming. Biggest complaint is lack of plushness early in the stroke, and a lack of fluid dampening.

You are probably riding it the wrong part of the stroke. Diving into mid stroke harshness. What springs do you have? Mx or trail? Torque on the tubes in spec?check for axel alignment!
