I am skeptical as well. But if these Donut guys do have something it would probably turn the battery market on its head. The Chinese and Asian companies are already speeding up their SS efforts I think. And it would be a feather in the European getting the tech there first cap. That said I am still in the "pigs may be able to fly" camp for now...
 
Anyone experiencing problems with charging? mine can't reach 3.3kw... it get stuck at 2.8kw and is not a problem with my electric set up, my friends varg does charge at 3.3kw at my house and my previous Varg was able aswell... im still on the old firmware version 1.6.0 the newest 1.7 doesnt appear on my bike yet

Test 3: not much going on

Test 4: the pack can charge at 5.7 C. Of course it's fast but pretty meaningless without any info about cyclability and capacity retention. Also weird obsession/paid content with Lucid Gravity when Xpeng cars already charge at 5C. So it's fast charging, slightly faster than current fastest charging production packs, without active cooling, but again what about cycle life?

Test 5: capacity dropped by 50% from about 12th cycle, which is terrible. Interesting bit is that, that was on the cell previously tested at 100 °C. This is actually intriguing and shows that there is no safety concern about overheating the cell. Yet it cannot work reliably at 100 °C so that's another overinflated claim by Donut. Could be the first hint of it really being something different, like a solid state cell (or hybrid cell with a polymer gel electrolyte). As others have said, I don't care what magic they put in it (actually I do), the most important thing is to get real proof about energy density and cyclability.

Bottom line Donut lab definitely only acquired the rights to some tech, and as some people have been pointing at for a couple of months, it's probably from a Spanish company named CT Coating that had a battery cell tested over a year ago... around 300 Wh/kg.

At the same time Verge supposedly just had their first "solid-state battery powered motorcycle" built a few days ago.

This is all very fishy, my favorite but is the claim that the battery absolutely does not use any lithium and only materials available and easily found all over the world to... maybe just not lithium ions... and final nail in the coffin "ok maybe we just did not understand the tech we bought and confused a crystal structure with the chemical composition of the material".

Whenever the solid-state industrial breakthrough happens, I feel pretty sure it won't be from Estonian clowns buying 1 year old tech from a Spanish company to build 10 motorcycles a month.
