The Permatex aluminum Anti-seize is the one I use for most things. I also have a can of the copper based variety which is used for high heat areas like heat shields, head flanges, some top end engine bolts, and none of which are found on our Altas.

I remove most bolts when the bike is new and my friends laugh at me. Bolts will get Loctite if they need to keep tight or might be in jeprody of loosening over time. Inserts where galvanic reaction might occur, because of the dissimilar metals, will get Anti-seize. It also helps acquaint...

How many looking at the Rivian R1T to haul your Alta?

I put in a deposit for the Rivian R1T after seeing the Tesla CyberTruck. The CT was just too ugly for me. I have already asked how much the tailgate will support for the rear of the Alta (1000# so no problem). I have also inquired if the 120v outlets in the bed could be 220v for our fast...

If you decide to pin it you will need to drill perpendicular to the bolt. Although this is not the same location, it is the forward shroud insert. You can see the hole is located near the end of the bolt yet still going through the brass insert. I have had no issues since doing this. The...

Display Guard - Protect it from crashes!

"Only two real options, prying the insert fully out of the plastic or drilling the head off the bolt." You might try the drilling and pinning method I described for the shroud inserts.

I ended up using a very small drill and drilling nearly perpendicular through the plastic and into the brass near the bottom. I then pushed in a short section of drill rod until it was flush with the plastic surface. I have had no issues since I made the fix and the brass is anchored within...

I asked about sending to Sweden and it looks like he will. PM me your name, email, & address. He will have to see what will be the best way and let you know how much it will cost. My son has taken over the day to day so I will have him contact you with the information.

Display Guard - Protect it from crashes!

Mike, check your PM for tracking #. If anyone else wants an EX version let me know, or I will not bother getting materials and making another batch. Thanks.

Display Guard - Protect it from crashes!

Here is the story. There are ample MX AltaVaults ready to ship but no EXs. I can put in an order for aluminum bar and get a small quantity CNCed. I will have to do about 18pcs as a minimum run. If there seems to be enough people interested I will do it but it will just be through me on the...

Display Guard - Protect it from crashes!

There is no problem using the MX version and that MX location for the EX. I was going to make a way to use the MX version on the EX in the EX location. Just needs some bracketry for support in the behind the headlight location.

I will try and see if there is some way he will do that for you.

Display Guard - Protect it from crashes!

I checked and only have my prototype for use with a steering stabilizer such as Ohlins. I'm sure there are others who would like to protect their EX displays so I will start working on a method to use the MX version for the people who would like an EX.

Display Guard - Protect it from crashes!

Mike, Keith is out of the EX version until I can come up with the way to modify the MX to fit the EX. I will look in my shop as I had several of my prototypes and some of the original batch. I will post up my findings this evening.

Display Guard - Protect it from crashes!

The brackets with the three holes go between the handlebar clamp bolts and the two threaded holes at the top rear of the Ex AltaVault. Depending on what position you have your bars located on the triple clamps determines which hole you use. Just grind off the rest. If there is need for more...

    Reverse Gear Switch

Rashid510, Will the idea of a switch to reverse polarity work? You know these creatures better than anybody so we value you opinion. If the only downside is a change proposed by an instant reverse, then can it be reduced or elimanated? This would be of little value to the MXers but for those...

    Reverse Gear Switch

Again off the top of the head; could you locate the switch in a very inconvient spot such as between the aluminum frame members, above battery? In that way you could still get to it if needed but certainly could not accidentally be hit by you or things like vegetation brushing past. A reverse...

Battery Technology and Best practice battery care

Thanks for the input. I was probably over thinking it, but was just wondering if the cell balance would be more important during storage or during the ride. It is such a fantastic motorcycle that any little advantage to prolong it's life is worth consideration.

Battery Technology and Best practice battery care

My standard charging proceedure has been fully charge until it shuts off to balance the cells. Then I ride it on a loop that takes it down to about 75-80% charged and that is how I store it. My question is; is it better to do it that way and get the benifit of the balancing at the end of the...
