Sorry, got lost in all the techno gobly gook. Good information since there has been a few R packs with dead BCU’s now, being able to replace the faulty component sure would be better than a $500 BCU. Obviously this isn’t something most people have the skill set for though.

I was thinking 20s as well, but the capacity doesn’t add up for me with any of the parallel configurations. I’m likely missing something though.

Ahh, ok. I was thinking the width was wider for the SM. Thinking back a little more I believe someone along the line said that’s why the Altas clamps were wider than KTM (when talking about the dirt models), which was to account for the extra width needed on the SM. But maybe I dreamt that...

Major differences are the wheels, suspension, front brake, and the SM has an on board charging system. I also think the triple clamps are different but someone will have to verify that one. And the front fender.

Firmware updates are possible with a diagnostic laptop setup, which we have well documented here. That is only necessary if the previous owner did not already have the bike updated (obviously). Fortunately for A pack bike owners (SM, EX, MX) there are batteries and parts floating around, and...

One other thought that came to mind... check the throttle connection for any obvious issues. I somewhat remember a member overseas having a throttle fault that was caused by a bad connection.

We’ve talked about the European generators at length several times, problem always boils down to the cost to import to the US and then it’s only really good for charging the bikes. Certainly would be ideal for the Altas though.
