    Broken display - solution?

I like your design Revoltlution, this is where forums can help everyone. The most important thing is that we protect these display units to keep our bikes running.

    Broken display - solution?

I ran around yesterday and got materials quoted, drawings made, talked with the CNC machinist, and started the program for milling/drilling. The final product will be anodized and contain stainless hardware to attach to the bike. I can get 19 pc per bar and there is a price break for three...

    Broken display - solution?

Great, Thanks. I was going to take it to the CNC today and wanted to make sure it was accurate for all bikes, not just my '17 MX (turned EX).

    Broken display - solution?

Will someone confirm the 18-19 models MXR has these mounting ears on the top triple clamp since they are an important mount point for the guard?

    Broken display - solution?

I feel all warm and fuzzy when I see no Alta check engine light knowing my oil is good and the valves are in spec. It seriously is a good idea to find who's display they use. On another note the prototype is finished. I cut more weight off it, rounded the edges, and powder coated it. The...

    Broken display - solution?

Phillip, finishig edges and coating will be the last steps. Next time I get to working on it it will look lmore ike a finished product - these are just stages in the prototyping.

    Broken display - solution?

It's taking a little longer than I expected and I made a pile of chips, but I have the prototype far enough to test mount it. All parts of the display are visible and buttons can be used with the guard in place. The thickness is about 3/16" so it would take a lot of load to deform the guard...

    Broken display - solution?

Thanks, I am hoping to have it done tomorrow, I'll let you know how the process is going and if I need to take you up on your offer. By the way, I messed up the screws getting the display off the bracket and have to use foam doughnuts to keep it in place.

    Broken display - solution?

I have been following this thread from the beginning since I want my bike to survive as well. I thought of several methods to protect the display, some better than others. It might be nice to move the display behind the steering stem but it would mean you could not use a steering damper which...

I installed full LED lighting on my MX

No problem at all if it helps someone. Guess what I found on another hard drive? Here is a picture of the battery location under the seat. You can see the area that will need to be modified to make room for the battery. The little box at the base of the battery is an LED flasher for the turn...

    The perfect piece, brake spring

I like your idea but I worry about the negative effects a spring could have on the boot which keeps out all manor of crud. I took a slightly different tac and mounted a spring from the pedal itself to a small offset bracket mounted to one side case screw. It gives much better return and no...

I installed full LED lighting on my MX

Make up your wiring harness making sure to protect it from sharp edges and heat at the top of the battery. All wires can be run along side the two existing wires at the front top of the frame. I have mine wired so the brake is always on, the headlight is switched on, then high/low using all...

One more thing is a rear pressure switch for the brake and KTM fits right on.

I installed full LED lighting on my MX

The WP battery was the size for the Husaberg 570 and can fit under the seat. You must remove the seat and unbolt the top plastic fender. Underneath you will see a rather large cavity where the battery will go on its side. There is a little trimming that must be done. Mainly the one large...

You also need a horn , this is mounted behind the shroud near where the frame tube is bolted. Some states require a chain guard. The one from the KTM/Husaberg fit perfectly with only minor trimming to get the fit.

I installed full LED lighting on my MX

I guess now that this part has been split off to it's own thread I am obligated. I will post up pictures and details how I did the lighting conversion for my MX. It started with me buying the headlight and tail light from Alta for the EX model. The power is from a WP LIion battery from a...

    Lower Front Chain Slider

3-D printing gives you a great design advantage. You could mock up another modifying it to have a vertical pad to drill and mount a roller for the chain to pass over. You could also beef up the vertical support to house a coil spring for tension against the frame tube. Remaking the part may...

    Lower Front Chain Slider

You can also turn it into a chain tensioner by the addition of a spring that pushes upwards against the frame. A hole in the center upright can contain the coil spring.
