Agree, and in addition, the Zero's motor is direct drive. The Alta's is geared. Perhaps it contribute as well.

Thanks for the explanation. The Zero electric bike which I had before, did not exhibit that sound. This is why I asked.

Just want to make sure you are all getting this clicking / crrrrk sound when the bike is pushed with no motor. Once the bike is accelerating it goes away. I have been told by Alta that is it the normal sound if the motor's magnets. Just curious how come no one raised that question before, as it...

I decided not to install rim locks, as I was worried about wheel balance (use the bike for road commutes as well). So far so good, but it doesn't prove anything of course..

The motor braking is quite different, to my understanding. The EX have motor braking in maps 3 & 4. The MX motor braking is most noticable on the lower maps. Some other differences as well.
