Few observations from today's ride -
Rode on a very technical rocky terrain, faster and harder than usual. Used mostly map 3 (usually map 2 is sufficient) and loved the extra oomph on rocky climbs. Motor braking helped with descends. The motor braking is very strong in map 4 and quite strong in...
I also owned a Zero Fx for 2.5 years before upgrading to the Redshift EX. I used 1 brick in the Fx and can tell you that for some reason, the Redshift EX does not feel heavier, even in technical terrain.
I am not sure that buying a high end motocross bike and turning it into an endure bike is...
Consider the EX model as well. Arrives pretty much ready for endure, suspension wise.
Also, lets you use the bike for doing your shopping and such, as it is Road legal..
Thanks for the heads up Ray. Actually, I did not think it was a problem, and that I just reached the limit of the machine.
The coolant pump sounds OK but of course, I'll check the fluid level.
Did anyone already encounter power limitation due to heat?
For the first time today, the warning light turned on and piwer was restricted. Max speed was limited to 60mph (Redshift EX).
Happened after 5-8 mintues of riding on the highway at about 65-69 mph. Temrature about 26 degrees celsius...
I replaced the stock EX footpegs with the fastway Evo 3 footpegs in their lowboy position.
The atock pegs, did just fine, and I felt comfortable on the bike ( I am tall at 1.9m). Since I had the fastway pegs already, decided to give them a go..
Just from the photos, it looks similar to my EX kickstand.
I find it to be too long, and would like the bike to lean sideway a little more, is there an easy fix for it?
LS2 helmets are considered to be the the best value for money over here. These are solid helmets, although 1.6kg is definately on the heavy side.
Actually, helmets (and boots) should be fitted before purchased. Glad to hear they can be returned.
Knee braces vs knee guards is an ongoing debate...
Are you all using knee braces? I'm using simple knee guards, and not sure if the inconvenience of braces is worth it.
For me, the Airoh Aviator helmet is by far the best purchase I made. Weighs only 1000 grams and very well ventilated. Fits like a glove.
I agree. Not sure this is the right bike for enduro racing. Even if it will make it, the range anxiety will get you first.
This is a great bike for hard enduro (more popular in Europe) where the riding is slower and more technical, IMO.
Great report. I also think that going up to map 3 may solve that power problem you encountered.
I would be careful with letting many riders test your bike. Insurance wise, and bike damage wise.
In Israel, the state electricity voltage is 220v, so we're lucky 👍
You guys nailed it. Have a free half an hour? Just pop on the bike and head to the field behind your house, no matter what time it is. Only possible with electrics.
We have few sand dunes around here. Not my favorite type of riding, but it is important to develop skills. The Redshift is great...
I know and I agree, but it made me think that minor injuries (mostly knees) and major injuries (mostly back) can be partially avoided with the correct protection gear.
