    Portable 48v power pack built from R cells

    Pretty cool. Probably need 4 of them to be able to fully recharge an Alta but interesting nonetheless.

    Rad Shrouds are murder on my knees

    Any interest in a custom frame graphics kit? If we can get a template made up I know who can design us a set.

    No problem! Glad to help!

    Would you Pull the Trigger on a New MXR

    At this time I’m pretty confident on our ability to keep them running, some issues are harder to resolve, specifically the code 36 issues. I wouldn’t pay 10k at this point for one though.

    Can you adjust the steering head angle and offset

    Wow! Wonder what’s up with that... both my 18 and 19 they dropped right off.

    310v is fine, that will come out to roughly 3.7v individual cell level voltage which would correspond to the 55% SOC you seen.

    That shouldn’t have done any harm to the bike being still connected to MT. You don’t have access to another Alta who’s owner would let you swap packs do you? That would be the easiest way to pinpoint the problem. I think I’d also throw a new 9v in just to eliminate that possibility.

    The battery was at 50% and the bike only became inoperable after the codes were cleared, correct?

    That one I do not know unfortunately.

    I wish I could say I had an idea for you. I suspect one way or another this is going to require that battery to come apart. It was still at approximately 50% charge, correct? It would seem nobody here has had a look at the actual contactors in an A pack, so you might have to be the first one...

    I’d recommend checking with KTM World in Georgia. Several members have liked their Alta revalve work.

    We think the contactors may be made by “Gigavac” under their “MiniTactor” product line. If so, these may not be expensive to replace. @Mark911 have you seen the A pack contactors out of the lid?

    DIY Alta Kickstand

    It will not work unfortunately. There is an issue with the relationship to the swingarm that killed that from being a possibility.

    Bummer to hear, we will do our best to help resolve this. For reference, here is the A pack lid. While I haven’t had one of these apart, I’m assuming the contactors are under the raised area with the decal;

    I was going to suggest that. Rashid has been able to free some up like that.
