We do exactly that, and they still degrade. Just like every other battery pack ever produced.

FYI You should know the battery does degrade! I estimate about 20% in the first 50 hours. We have several freeride battery's and they all have this amount of degration.

Well if you use 10l of petrol for a total ride time of 1 hour. With a estimated efficiency of 15%. It would be 9,1x10x0,15= 13,6 kWh you would need in battery power for a rough comparison.

Well the range isn't that much different then what ALTA claimed. So everyone who ownes a Alta has a great benchmark for what to expect.
