Battery 1.0 vs 1.2/EX

My battery has an issue that it still works but still needs replacing.
In contact with Stark they told me this is warranty and will send my dealer a new battery. So far so good.

It took a while longer than supposed to, but here it is at the dealer. However it looks to be a 1.2 battery since the CAN connector is different.

What is on the bike:

Versus what we got:8dff184f-6565-4447-96d4-d2c5b0f2e4df.jpg

However seeing the different connector i noticed the 4 little torx screws. That implies the connector could be swapped. Also notice in both there are 4 connector pins.

This is not something i would do myself. However this looks easy enough to swap so a 1.0 gets the same 7.2kWh battery as the 1.2/EX.

Am i making some critical error here?

No error by you. When they switched to higo connectors the whole wiring harness basically changed. I think that with a new wiring harness also comes a new VCU and phone.

I wouldn't try to change connectors as you need to split the battery in two to do that. The logical answer would be some sort of adapter. Either that or replace the VCU, phone, wiring harness etc. I am pretty sure about the above but not 100% sure.

Why would you need to split the battery? As i see it you can unscrew the connector. Take out the 4 wires and connect them to the other connector.

Bu maybe the signal is different?

First, you would need to know the pinout. Second, the higo is molded. If it was my battery I wouldn't do it because it would end up a butcher job; and I have lots of practice with wiring. It would be a lot easier/cleaner to do it on the VCU/cable-harness end.

Stark really should have a solution for that. It doesn't make sense to manufacture new batteries with both connectors. It also doesn't make sense to leave 1.0 customers with no spare batteries harnesses. Did you ask customer support?

This is at the dealer since warranty work regarding the battery has to be done by the dealer.
The dealer is in contact with Stark about this.

Will be interesting to see what they do. They might end up putting a new VCU, phone, and wiring harness in it. Please let me know how it turns out.

I would be amazed if they upgraded everything. I expect they accidentally sent the wrong battery, and will (eventually) send the older style battery.
Don’t forget to ask them to extend your warranty to help compensate your downtime, they did it for me.

They also know my battery still works so i don't think they'll bite.
It will get out of warranty 6 november. I guess i'm extending it.
