It was actual a fellow Stark Rider. The boy and I were riding ours at our favorite OHV place (Brown Mountain in NC). We actually came across this guy pushing his Stark!
We had very spotty cell service so we tried a post here because he hadn’t gotten a response from support yet. He hadn’t found this site yet , but I showed it to him! LoL
I got his contact info so I will keep up with what happens.

It was a long couple of days for him! Yep, Days! LoL Said he pushed for 6 hours on Saturday and then just hid it in the bushes and walked out to go home and get some rest. He lives about 90 miles away so he brought some friends back on Sunday to help. For those not familiar with Brown, there are a ton of goat paths that go way down, just to turn around and come way back up…said he got it down in one of those valleys and their was no getting it out with out help. It’s actually hard to just walk up a bunch of them! I’ve never left one in there over night, but I have spent an entire day getting one out a few times!

Mine and my son’s worked perfect all day. My son did take a nasty fall on his left side. Skinning up and breaking some plastics. Took us 10 or so minutes to get it back upright but she turned on and “crawl mode” itself out 👍

I followed up with him to see if he got it going, said Stark told him to take it to his local dealer, and they are sending in a new “drive train”

He wasn’t sure if that meant the battery or the motor…?? Said the dealer acted like he would get it back end of this coming week too.

So, he is not sure if this was a crash related brake-age, or just a part malfunction.

@True520 did he break the chain? Or did he push 6 hours turning the motor/drivetrain? If you don't have a masterlink, I strongly suggest carrying a small chainbreaker if you are going to have to push a lot for rescue/pickup just in case. There is no neutral, so it is like pushing an ICE bike in gear with the clutch.

Most of my enduro area is within an hour of pushing to civilization and even with that I carry a breaker. Probably not as much of an issue for those who do Moto but you can get far out on trails in a few hours which could be days to push out.

Motion Pro has a good small chainbreaker.

Wow, I never even thought of that aspect !

His chain was still in tack when they got it back to the truck I know it took them a total of (6) hours to get it out But with those Mtn conditions, may have only be a mile or two.

I will definitely check to see if mine have master links installed.

Are we taking the chain off for ease of pushing, or because it is bad for the motor to be pushed for long periods of time.??

Thanks for the info too

Removing the chain makes it much easier to push. I can't imagine trying to push/drag a Varg around in hilly woods for miles with the chain installed, insane.

Not that it would be a picnic with the chain removed since it such a porker, but night and day easier then with the chain still installed.

No all Starks have an "endless" chain. Less work to install in the factory and leas to go wrong.

I install a masterlink on every bike though.
Ik would however take tools to pull the rear axle though. That way you can take the endless chain off and if by some miracle (or the bike was never broken and you had a mindfuck) the bike starts again you can just ride.

Ease of pushing. I don't think it is bad for the motor. That might be one reason why it took them 6 hours.

I am very careful now, back a few years ago if I got stranded I could hide my bike go home and get my UTV and return to pick up my bike. Don't have the luxury any longer though so I need to take precautions if I need to push it out.

I am pretty sure, as others have said, all Starks including EX do not come with master links. On other forums folks have mentioned that some chain guides don't like the extra width of master links so you want to get the proper master link for the chain model.

If you get a mindfuck like that, I see a broken chain in my Murphy's law crystal ball...:ricky:

Jeez who rides without a breaker and the usual basic enduro tools
chain and joiner etc
endless chains are way better saves pushing it when the joiner clip falls off
stark recovery kit ! does it include a heavy lift helicopter
you will probably need one.

Well i remember a case where one of our friends Beta wouldn't start after he crashed.

He spend some time pushing after wich i took over. His handlebar switch had turned and the stop button was pushed by his throttle wire. Turned the switch a bit and MIRACLE, the bike started :ricky:

No hate
The trouble is stark will not deal with any of the issues
I am over watching these things go around on roller tracks
with professional riders on them (edited) and influences saying how good they are
when they are not
and the bu!!shit lies
The bike does not weigh 118 kgs It is a lot heavier .
If i put a bolt kit on it I may be able to get it down close to the FIM limit for this bike
which is 123kgs
The bike does not make 80hp.It has more than enough power
with the 63hp it makes(a lot less in race mode)
The range is a considerable problem for competition riders
there is not 2 hours between rounds to charge it in mx
(you could easily shove more power into it if it let you)
The small mechanical issues tubes wheel brakes etc are easily fixable
does it still come with party balloons as tubes
Are there any privateer riders riding (full) mx events on it.
I doubt it
maybe it is possible with a big enough support crew
but for most riders it is not

With minimal effort a lot of the nuances could be eliminated
and provide a lot more enjoyable ride for the person that has
bought one
no flash shiny bottle openers needed
