Delivery Update:
I am in Utah and I ordered my EX on Jan 4th.
VIN #000315.
Delivery date still shows 04/18, but I just spoke to a guy at Ekho this morning 04/16. According to him the bikes land in LA this coming Friday, 04/18. They will sit for 5 days at customs, then they will head out for delivery which can take 7-14 days depending on location.
The guy thought, UT would be somewhere later in that window putting deliveries somewhere in the week of Cinco De Mayo.
Paperwork:
I received an email from Ekho on 04/04 requesting that I sign in to the buyer portal and complete paperwork. Part of that was setting up a wet ink signing.
I completed the wet ink signing 04/07. This is an online appointment where you use your finger to sign and an automated arm with a pen mimics your motions to sign the actual paperwork. You get to watch it, It's pretty cool!
There are also three documents that need to be downloaded, printed, signed, notarized and returned via prepaid shipping label.
1. TC-661: Certificate of inspection. This is a VIN verification. I had to do this with my F800 GS when I moved here from another state. I just called the police department and they sent out an officer to verify the VIN and complete the form. There are a few options to get this done, but you obviously need the bike to do it. You can have the DMV, an officer, and I believe a dealer verify the VIN and fill out the form. This time I will use a dealer, I didn't know this was an option until the guy at Ekho told me that today. This is great news because I don't plan on putting the blinker kit or reflectors on my bike and I know the dealer won't give me any trouble about it. I was worried that I was going to have to put it all on, get my VIN verified, then go home and take it all off, lol.
2. Notarized power of attorney (Primary - Open) : I believe this is to give Ecko the power of attorney to represent us in the titling process. This form, unlike the next form, does not have an attorney appointed. That portion is intentionally left blank. I guess this is to cover them incase they need to change attorneys. There are two copies of this form and you must sign both in front of a notary.
3. Notarized power of attorney (Primary Owner & Dealer) : This is the exact same form as #2 above, except that this form does have an attorney appointed. This also needs to be signed if front of a notary and sent back.
I was told by Ekho today that I do not need to send these forms back until I get the bike and complete form TC-661, the VIN inspection. But, he did mention that this was only because I had paid for the bike in full. He mentioned that not getting the notarized forms returned could gate delivery for someone who has financed the bike. He also said that the bike will come with a 90day temp tag so I will be road legal out of the box!
I hope this helps someone else making their way through this, and I am curious to hear where others are at in the process.
