Fast 7kW charger

Nice one. At the same time - most people won't have a 32A socket in their garage; yet, it is too bulky to take with the bike to use 22kW AC charging stations on the way.

The design choice is questionable: Why not use 2x or 3x 16A phases? It's not like 3x32A is required to put out 7kW DC. That rules out all 16A three-phase outlets and all 11kW charging station, which probably is what most private EV drivers have in their garage.

Well there are adapter to 3x16A but indeed bulky. Probably worth it to rewire yourself. It's not hard.

The best usecase is if there is a type 2 charger near where you park the van. That starts to happen out here at some MX tracks.

When I saw this, I assumed it was aftermarket. Its not really in keeping with Starks aesthetic.

Also, I don't think it's really for the majority... more the competitive guys that ride heats.

Absolutely. But for most, it's just not worth the spend.
As you say, the portable one is going to be more useful for the 99%.

Is the portable not available though Stark yet? I know my dealer has some, but don't know if they are for customer bikes. Might be worth speaking to him...

Anton Wass said 1 week ago on a live Q&A that they had some problems with the manufacturer but that its coming soon, he said before april ends

The page for the charger mentions charging the EX in one hour. I sent news of the charger to my local track, as the idea is the track will purchase a few of these. I got the question back if this would work for the MX models as well, including the 1.0.
I assume that it would but asked SAM for clarification and SAM didn't even know about this charger and told me the max charge was limited to 3.3 for all bikes. SAM opened a support ticket to clarify, i'll report back when I know for certain that it works with all models.

Webshop states in may.

im pretty sure it will work for all models, the Varg MX 1.0 has the Molicel P45B wich can charge at 3C, the 7kw charger is 1C charging

Because Stark can always be trusted with deadlines. Never missed every single one or anything...

Meanwhile, a surprising number of dealers have the portable.

Some SMs were delivered with portable chargers, but that also stopped in February; and as of now none are available. In the last Q&A, Anton Wass promised them for Q2; ie. April/May/June.

Hi David,

The charger is compatible across all bikes; however, it is a fast charger and requires a specific electrical setup to work properly.

32 amps make sense now because for some reason its only drawing power from 1 phase. The charger also comes with a status screen (touch screen)

Where did you find the info in those screenshots? I'm not well versed on these higher voltage plug types. Do we know if the charger requires a 400V outlet, or just the 400V 32a plug type and 240V is all it needs?

My portable charging setup puts out 7200 watts at 240V. Wondering if I get a plug adapter this would work...
