Sadly the icon is displayed by the VCU for a generic fault condition, internally they just condsider it a "malfuction indicator lamp"...

Correct, the Stark phone only records rides and ride data when connected to the bike. On the EX the VCU has an internal odometer based...

And, with the text size turned way down, it looks like all screens are no longer truncated. I just won't be able to read anything else...
