I agree with @Trialsman. I ride tight technical woods in the PNW area, and on a nasty wet day the Alta does not go over slippery roots and rocks as well as a torquey 2-stroke with a clutch. One reason is the weight of the bike, but not having a clutch and only having one speed results the wheel...

What is “chain torque reduction”? You have the given torque at the output shaft, which is multiplied through your selected gear ratio to give you a torque around the rear wheel axle. Sure a larger front sprocket has a tiny bit more rotational inertia, but larger sprockets also have less friction...
