I also would stay on the safe side and leave writing operations to the arkenstone. They want to make money with their pro mode maps, so don't make them angry by bypassing this even if possible. They might be able to encrypt communication by OTA updating VCU and phone and that would make custom...
yes and I find it more than understandable: Imagine what a car manufacturer or any bike company would say if you plug something between their electronic and their electric throttle.
i have a different understanding: It's doing something with the throttle signal, but then uses the same input to the VCU as the original throttle. Imho that is no bypassing, it is a modification of the input signal.
@Erwin P : what makes you think the e-clutch writes data to the bike? All solutions I saw so far seem to do something with the throttle input, but that wouldn't write anything? Did I miss something?
Tested Android and IOS today:
- on android, the issue with the screen layout is fixed, the values for Mapping and speed are just less bold and "comic style" than on IOS.
- on IOS there is an issue when speed reaches three digits (km/h in Germany). The numbers are using two lines then and the...
Great! I can test it tomorrow. Do you know if it is the normal update procedure on android or ist it anyway special?
UPDATE: I updated via play store and now my app version on android is 1.2.0, native build 18. Is that correct?
Imho this prototype, version 1.0.0 (or so) app has less connection problems than their OEM version. I have the EX since the beginning of march and the
OEM app has still so much issues that i am tired to list them. The idea of a phone as a dashboard might be cool but it is not well done.
Just...
First ride, left arkenstone at home.
Connection shows up a PIN each time, but it can’t be entered and it connects anyway. Took font size to the smallest size possible but ODO is clipped on start screen and
advanced measures overlap speed.
(Must learn taking screenshots on android:)
On my EX the "howling" starts at low 50 km/h and ends a little above 60 km/h (31 - 37 miles per hour). I think, it doesn't really end but the frequency becomes so
high that my old ears cannot hear it anymore. What do you think is the main source of this noise?
you normally don't uninstall app completely. Uninstall all updates (long press app, app info, three dots, uninstall updates). Then install latest update when asked by app.
what about android? Imho one great use of your app would be an overlay with speed, battery and mode over a nav app like locus or dmd. As far as I know this would'nt be possible with IOS?
I think not to write into VCU is more a plus than a missing feature. Just beeing able to arrange speed, Battery Cap and mode would be very useful. Maybe as an overlay for android nav apps or as a nicer dashboard (maybe something thats also showing the time ;-) on ios. The readings of the bike...
