I finally got this build finished with lots of help from Don Cox and inspiration from TJ.

It started as a bunch of ebay parts from a 2005 RMZ250. I wanted a steel frame, was having a hard time finding a rolling chassis.

Used every cleaner known to man and spent hours getting bearing working, it was way to much work in hindsight.

It’s got the new style QS 138 motor, lithium king motor mount, Amorge 96V x 45 amp/hr battery, FarDriver ND961000 controller.

It almost Alta power, I’d say level 3+ when I compare to the EXR I used to have.

Battery can be replaced with a spare in about 5 minutes.

It’s a hoot, I think it weighs 230-240 ish.

Next goal is to install a street legal wiring harness and lights, then figure out how to get it approved by the Texas DNV. If anyone has experience getting a bike passed with Texas DNV would appreciate any info on the process.

You are certainly welcome. I’ll get with you and we’ll get the street legal stuff working, and the water cooling system on it. Is the controller in the picture your new controller? My controller has a flat machined bottom. They are so fun to ride.

That controller in the picture was my first one which I returned, I thought it was defective. The second controller has a flat plate like yours.

Here is the Wiring Harness, 72 to 12V converter, Power Relay, key switch, blinker.

You will then need to get the left and right side handlebar swtiches, and throttle. You can remove the right side switches from the throttle to put a more durable throttle on, ie. a Domino, or Hirschmen or Surron throttle

Headlight, blinker lights and a taillight. You only have 10A of 12V with this converter, but you can run most any LED light, since the tail light and blinkers are negligible current. I found this one quite good for play .

Taillight Make sure you get the one with 5 wires; right , left, running, and braking and grd. you will have to splice the wires for the light to the harness connectors.

Front blinkers, You have to drill 3/4" wholes in the front number plate

The wiring Harness I have is for the Votol, Only a few switches are different, I will see if i can find the Fardriver one. I have the controller side, I need the Wiring Harness side . Here are the main ones Key is B+ to this key wire, and it turns the controller on, throttle is throttle, 3 peed is 3 speed as set in the controller settings. Backwards is reverse.

This is a start, tell me what you have already as far as the wiring harness. And I read that your new controller is smooth. Your ND961000 is smaller than the ND961200, and they don't make a kit for yours as far I can see. but there is another way that I do it on the Votol. 3 main parts , the original RM radiator, right side with the cap. this Amazon pump, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JD8PXSR?tag=sce0f-20, and 2 of these cooling plates, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VMZGJPY?tag=sce0f-20 without the peltier coolers. ( the $45 choice)

don, you are amazing. I am not ready to try to build my own yet but it seems that smart people like yourself have much to offer the electric motorcycle community. besides the sound of an electric motor(which I like) the biggest complaint seems to be range. I notice that your bikes and Sur Rons have quick change batteries, alta and stark do not. it's going to take people like you to get the industry to standardize batteries and utilize quick change components. if you could pull into a gas station and exchange batteries like propane tanks there would be no More range anxiety. dirt bikes use 1 battery, small street bikes 1 or 2 batteries, sport bikes 3 batteries and cruisers, tourers and adventure bikes 4 or more batteries. what a wonderful world it could be.
