How long are we expecting the Stark battery to last (long term)

Exactly.
I get why the upgraded the wiring harnas, but an adapter to retrofit with a software update would be great so we could keep on riding our bikes.
Also easy'er for them so they don't have to stock an outdated model for 10 years.

Also when a battery dies outside warranty that's a shame. But having to buy an upgraded model would put "some" smile on ones face instead of just spending 3K getting what you have.
Also when you're keeping your MX 1.0 and buying an EX it's a far better deal since you could bring one battery as an back-up to the other. Now you have 2 different ones. In wich case you might as well look at the competition like Flux or Arctic Leopard.

Agreed. I see this a lot in tech... Companies would rather take the risk of selling more of a product than building an upgradable platform. With competition around the corner like Flux or the Chinese companies with upgradable platforms, trying to win on innovation alone gets harder and harder.

Especially since the shape is the same. Should be quite easy to integrate.

Just look at Apple. Their products work best if you keep using them alongside eachother. That's why someone who has an Iphone might also consider that MacBook he otherwise wouldn't. If there is no incentive to stick to them for a second bike, then why would i when competition comes along...?

Would re-use shell - just a matter of replacing and reconnecting* 21700 cells inside

* Lots of assembly required, don’t get electrocuted, etc…
Can be quite time consuming to replace and reconnect 400 cells (and obviously can be hazardous if not done properly).

However there are some companies doing exactly that for Tesla and also Freeride batteries (send them your old battery, they replace individual cells and reuse case and connections), they will be some companies doing that at some point for Vargs as well.

If it are of the shelf cells that sounds really doable.

First bikes get out of warranty about now so we'll see.
Will depend on the cost though. 3K is expensive, but not that expensive and you'll have it quick (maybe even with 2 year warranty?). Has to be a pretty good deal if they have to rebuild it.
