Bike Ramps and other loading tips

I like your mini rapid charger, @wwmotors. I am also planning to remove mine from the Pelican case and hang it on the wall inside the van. Or is this the standard charger?? It is hard to tell.

    Fork Adjustment Knobs

Oh, yes! Now I understand it too. Hold the knob and turn the screw.

    Fork Adjustment Knobs

Just pry it with two screwdrivers. If it breaks, Kreft Moto has aluminum knobs.

    Triple Clamp offset on SM?

The offset is adjustable. Either 18mm or 22mm. The default offset on big wheel bikes is 22mm, although I prefer 18mm for a better stability. Not sure if the SM uses the same offset, but the SM clamps are the same as on other Altas. Rim Options, Triple Clamp Options?

    Stock wheel spacers front

If you can modify the stock spacer, you can google any local machine shop and pay them for 30 minutes of their time. This is probably the easiest thing to do.

With all this Dyno talk a Little on track speed

IIRC, the stock speedo adds 10%. just like on most other bikes. But @Fog 25 runs a 14T front sprocket. So, 52mph is a lot lower than his trip speed.

With all this Dyno talk a Little on track speed

Interesting... I think someone from Alta quipped that the top speed is the same in all maps. Maybe that's because it is the same motor's max RPM. But 52mph is not the top speed on the MXR! So why is it 52mph in this test in all maps besides Map 1? Interesting.

    Stock wheel spacers front

Yes. Only the MX/EX/SM has different front spacers because of the thicker axles.

    Stock wheel spacers front

I have been working on a complete set of spacers, new and improved. Thanks for the reminder. If I finish the design this weekend, then we will have them in about a month, by April.

    Got myself a practice bike

Well... I got my CRF450 Showa suspension back from the tuner. Went to a far away track today, which is a bit choppy and tacky. I took the Honda and my two Altas with me. Started the day with the Honda because I was anxious to once again experience the hopefully still awesome suspension that I...

Getting used to this no-clutch thing!

Thank you for the video. You should change the view to the wide setting, else the camera seems too low to show what's ahead and too high to show the bike.

Dyno comparison Alta Vs two stroke and four stroke

If you add other gears, then the HP chart will gain other blips of the same height but at different speeds, proportionate to the gear ratios. No surprises there, you can visualize it pretty closely without plotting. On the Torque chart the blips will be higher at lower speeds and lower at...

    Swapping MXR/EXR front suspension

I think it is a direct swap. However, the EXR fork will feel too soft on the MXR, so you'd either have to respring/revalve it or swap the rear shocks as well.

Dyno comparison Alta Vs two stroke and four stroke

What kind of a dyno is this (type, brand)? If you can simulate any load, then you can record 1 run 0-60mph with the regular 400 lbs load (bike plus rider) and then another run with like 600 or 800 lbs load to simulate an uphill. The run with a heavier load will take much longer, so it would be...

Dyno comparison Alta Vs two stroke and four stroke

So, according to these charts, the 250's do not stand a chance. I have some 450's charts in my dyno thread. They too need to be revved and shifted at high RPM to keep up with the MXR. One question remains: Does Alta reduce the power after the throttle is held at WOT for X number of seconds...

What? You look like a millennial to me here. You may have to hit the gym, but you should be able to load bikes without any ramps! :D

Bike Ramps and other loading tips

I never owned a truck. First, I had a sedan with a bike trailer, then a Ram B-van, then a Honda Element (one bike fits inside, and the other on a bike trailer behind!). But a few years ago I was in Arizona with a dirt bike but without any of my personal vehicles. I rented a Ram 1500 truck. That...
