    Stark Battery Tech Thread

Yes the first time we see these new cells should be in a couple of years with Älg release for which target is 300 km range, 10 min fast charging (so new cells and much larger pack). It would likely be extended later to their entire range so maybe in Varg 2.0 or 3.0. Disclaimer: I do not own...

    Stark Battery Tech Thread

@Karinshi : you keep asking if Stark would sell newer batteries for older models... well, Stark did not do that for MX1.2, no more than Apple does for its Iphones. Maybe when the market becomes more mature, with much higher sales of electric road motorcycles, we could see aftermarket companies...

That's an interesting approach, you got me thinking, thanks. You used the casting modulus to compare a single object to another single object of different dimensions. Now let's think about the pack. To get 7.2 kWh, that's 400 of the actual 21700 5.0 Ah cells, total cell volume is about 9700...

Yeah I was actually wondering about that. For retention we would need more data at various currents and so on. In this regard, Molicel publicly available datasheet are complete than that of EVE Energy.

    Yamaha YE-01

I would argue that a manufacturer should not try so much to understand what we, e bike enthusiasts on this highly specialized forum about electric dirt bikes, would want in an electric bike but instead what could trigger the interest of the majority of riders that are currently not into e bikes...

This partnership makes me think the unspecified 5.0 Ah cells in 7.2 kWh battery of the EX and MX1.2 could well be Eve Energy INR21700-50E

Big news, related to Stark incoming road models but even bigger (might deserve its own thread). And that's a surprise for me cause I was convinced Stark would not risk going there, these guys are crazy! https://finance.yahoo.com/news/stark-future-signs-strategic-partnerships-080000036.html...

Flux Performance - eMX startup from Europe

Obviously the market for street motorcycles is much much larger than off-road, so if you can build an attractive bike, profitability will come faster. That being said, electric street motorcycles don't sell much (unlike cheap commuter scooters) and silence for the road might not be such an easy...

The FiM has Neutered the Stark for WSX

Weird, I've never seen them mentioning traction control, and AFAIK indeed they're one rare example of MX bike without any TC. OTOH, virtual flywheel was touted since launch but I haven't seen anyone (Tortelli, riders or anyone else) stating they finally had it on the factory bikes. It wasn't...

    RFN SX-e60

I'm not sure all Chinese brands need to go this way. Obviously competition is a very useful tool to build and develop brand awareness. That may be necessary if you want to compete head to head against the best brands and position your products as high end. However if you want to be the easy...

    RFN SX-e60

RFN could be China's answer to Stark Funded in 2020, its name stands for Racing Fears Nothing 😆 They've just introduced their incoming SX-e60 at EICMA, bit sure if that's their first serious full-size or not but it sure looks good on paper. 81 hp (the 1 is probably important for the...

The FiM has Neutered the Stark for WSX

WSX round 2 Vancouver SX2: Hicks 7th (6/7/7) and Kobusch 11th (11/13/10) SX1: Zaragoza 8th (9/11/9) and Friese 12th (10/13/12) Hicks is still Stark best rider, and generally faster than their SX1 riders. He's their best chance to get some silverware, in the main he was 12 s from the win (and...

    Yamaha YE-01

I haven't seen any issues with overheating in pro races (though that would likely be the case if they raced in deep sand). Herbreteau raced his Stark to 6th in France MX Elite MX1 championship finishing all 25 min + 2 laps races. Starks would probably be a couple of laps short in MXGP or AMA...

    Yamaha YE-01

I have a lot of respect for what Don Cox and other electric wizards have been doing for years, great conversions and lots of happy and fast riders, no question about that. But I get Erwin's point as well. Purely from a physics point of view, swapping a gas engine and fuel tank for an electric...

Film production company interested in renting my Varg

Odd to rent a bike 12 days for half its price. It would cost them much less to buy a brand new one and sell it after a couple of weeks If you want to go with it, they should provide solid proof of insurance with all included damage, theft, damage to others/liability and so on. It has to be...

The FiM has Neutered the Stark for WSX

Hicks has been penalized in superpole and race 2 for "Exceeding the maximum energy tolerance per lap" Electric bikes must be fitted with FIM data logger and FIM own voltage and current sensors, FIM technical inspectors can request and review the data at any moment during the competition...

The FiM has Neutered the Stark for WSX

I do think that Hicks is their best rider at the moment, like when he and Zaragoza were racing AX UK in Abu Dhabi (SX1 only) he was faster. Even in SX tour where he's racing SX2 and Zaragoza is in SX1, he's often as fast or faster.

The FiM has Neutered the Stark for WSX

Yes agreed mostly, starts are an advantage for electrics so that's partly why they tend to go backwards, they can get in front of faster riders at the start. When they lock power they lock the max for a set duration, they can still adjust maps and go up or down as long as it's under the set...
