    Stark Varg “weave” (steering wobble)

Keep in mind he started that video by saying "some people run their steering really really tight. And that he used to run his loose, until he learned there can be some positive effects of steering tight enough for it to stick a little. Also notice the way he was describing it, wasn't referring...

    Stark Varg “weave” (steering wobble)

Pictures were posted, I (a retired performance auto master tech and powersports mechanic) can verify, there was truly nearly zero grease in/on the bearings. And it has happened to a LOT of people, and it was almost always all the bearings throughout the entire bike when it did happen; not just...

    Stark Varg “weave” (steering wobble)

Oh also, have you spun both wheels while on a stand to make sure they're both still perfectly true and straight? If a wheel is canted a little, it'll definitely cause a weave back and forth, though it'd be a higher speed wobble than a low frequency weaving.

    Stark Varg “weave” (steering wobble)

This is where my mind was going. Especially after that guy above said tighten the steering nut as tight as possible. NOOOOOOOOO, that is the WORST thing you can do! To any bike! Different bikes have different ways of doing it, but whatever tensions the two conical steering bearings is supposed...

Something I've noticed with all the ebikes out now: MX versions definitely do not mean they can handle an actual motocross race or track. All the MX label indicates is "MX style": that it has a front wheel that is 2"-3" larger than the rear wheel, and often shorter gearing for more torque to the...

    Talaria Komodo

They're starting to classify e-bikes now into 3 size groups; light mid and full. Light being the MTB style, with the light bee as the general comparison. Mid being bikes such as the ultra bee, dust moto hightail, and really anything that falls roughly halfway between the size of a light bee and...

    Front rear tire choice

should be. Just be careful of rocks and ledges

    Front rear tire choice

10 is fine as long as they're heavy duty tube's and the ground is actually soft, meaning no rocks or roots, because the terrain will move a bit and absorb impacts too. If there's anything hard in the ground, I wouldn't go below 11 or 12. Another option is a very soft mousse. Then flats are...

    Front rear tire choice

I'm glad you posted this. I think I'm gonna try out those rinaldi 47's next time I need tires. They look rather suitable for what I ride

Just got arrested on the local MTB trails

not all states have a power limit though. And here in CT, the limit is 3kw and 28mph. I'll be making an engraved plaque for my kx250f ev conversion saying 3kw 28mph, and adding headlight and taillight so it's within the state laws. And will have the low mode programmed at 3kw and 28mph in case...

2004 KX250F Electric conversion build. My first e-bike ever!

Yeah I mentioned above that if my controller ends up not working out for me, I'm going straight for the ebmx x9000. I completely agree with that suggestion. I've also checked out the gts35, and see that as a candidate as well. And have decided that to be my second choice if the qs165 doesn't...

Just got arrested on the local MTB trails

the really funny part [to me] is that some states actually have their laws written in a way that any e-bike with pedals that turn the rear wheel are legal to drive on public streets. So technically, this would be legal in those states

Service your linkage and swingarm bearings asap

I absolutely hate how she's using the torque wrench to loosen everything. Especially hearing it click well before it cracks the nuts loose. Putting the rag in the chain to pull the wheel forward before torquing the axle nut is an awesome idea though, I've never heard of doing that, but it makes...

Service your linkage and swingarm bearings asap

Oh wow! You put that back in?!? And are going to wait another 130 hours before replacing it?!?!? That is absolutely destroyed as is! That should be replaced asap. It WILL destroy the bearing [and itself even more] in very short time, even with fresh grease

2004 KX250F Electric conversion build. My first e-bike ever!

If I can't fit a straight rectangle shape battery, I've also considered something along the lines of the following in blue or red:

2004 KX250F Electric conversion build. My first e-bike ever!

For reference, I made a cardboard cutout to the exact dimensions of the qs165 60h v3. Here it is lined up in the frame. This is why I may need to extend the battery up into the frame rails. I also don't mind making an odd shaped battery if necessary, fatter below the rails, and narrower up in...

2004 KX250F Electric conversion build. My first e-bike ever!

I just realized something. The issue of breaking reduction gears some people have ran into. Motorcycles have drivetrain dampers, dirtbikes dont, because they anticipate the slip of the tire in dirt. In car racing, trans gears break more often from impacts than from pure power. Going from no...

2004 KX250F Electric conversion build. My first e-bike ever!

what's your configuration though? 23s or 26s? And how many in parallel? Either way, that's a higher series cell count than I'll be running. And I'm assuming considerably higher total cell count. My first battery will only be 220 cells. I'm guessing yours is 260 cells? Also, I just double...

2004 KX250F Electric conversion build. My first e-bike ever!

That's awesome! That controller does look pretty stuffed in there. I took measurements, and it appears I can fit the ND841200 in my airbox, so I'm wondering if yours is a smaller compartment than mine. Because I'm pretty sure the 961000 is a little smaller than the 841200. I still have more...

2004 KX250F Electric conversion build. My first e-bike ever!

Yeah I've watched almost all your videos. I had already decided to do an electric conversion before I came across your channel, I've just found your vids to be rather helpful in making some decisions, and gathering new ideas I hadn't thought of prior. No I've never ridden any electric bikes...
