The lower clamp is the same. The upper is 1mm wider from WP.

In mine (MX1.0) it does seem to work correctly. I can adjust it to 6,6 but it will not have an actual charge above 3.2.

That's quite commonly used on multiple bikes. Also the CRF-L. Somehow that setup tends to get out of alignment faster in a crash orvrockbashing, can't say i like it. Matters less for an SM offcourse.

I have the MX and SM rims. Just need the EX for the bigger battery and being street legal.

Yess and the SM probably has very different inner suspension setup. I would still pick the EX. It looks like the clamp doens't have the damping of the EX/MX.
