Do you need a physical flywheel that adds weight? Can you accomplish the same thing with software that limits the rate of acceleration/deceleration of the electric motor? I guess a flywheel can provide more instantaneous torque than the Alta's motor... but maybe the motors are capable of more...

Looks to be far from reality. The battery CAD model they showed on the YouTube video is missing a lot of components.
