Imo, the only way electric motorcycles will make it is to go after the commuter crowd, offer performance models also but rely on commuter bikes for the most revenue.
I think lacing a 17 on the rear and 19 up front would be killer on the EXR, I forget what bike I saw that combo on, but it split the difference between the full on dirt look and super moto, the 19 might be more work than it's worth though. I had the SM, I would have preferred the off board...
It's a good thing. I sold my Alta SM and bought a KTM 690 Enduro R and a KTM Duke 390, I'm not throwing rocks at the KTM's by any means but the two bikes I've chosen sure make some funny noises and are high maintenance. I'll be back on an Alta someday...
I think he was mending a broken foot or ankle, might be wrong about that but he looked good on the bike. I'm not sure of the laps or time involved but they all seemed to be less than an hour on Sunday, I know the last race, the one that decided the overall winner was 30 minutes plus 1 lap. I...
I went the final day on Sunday to the Tennessee Knockout Extreme Enduro and was slightly surprised that I didn't see any Alta's competing, there may have been some on Saturday but I didn't see any on Sunday, closest thing I saw to an Alta was a guy wearing an Alta t-shirt. I'm not a big dirt...
I actually had the update done on mine before selling it, it was quick and easy (for them), I believe it also added a few little features like alerting when the 9v battery in the dashboard is running low and how the bike counts hours, I'm a tad fuzzy on these so someone here could probably...
Agreed, I bought the Rally thinking it would be quicker than it was, boy, was I surprised. The new EX might be one to think about too but the SM really does sound like it would suit your needs, you'd have to charge while at work, freeway speeds on it would not yield a 40 mile round trip for you...
It''s funny that yo mention the 390 Duke, since selling my Alta SM I actually picked one up for the short stints that I normally did on the Alta, for $4500 new, it was hard to pass up, it's turned out to be a surprisingly fun and capable little bike, BUT, I still prefer the electric for actual...
I had the SM and really, really miss that bike!! Having said that, and a former road racer and track day whatever, I can say that if you're pretty fast and on the gas a lot, or volts, you'll probably get one session in the morning and one in the afternoon after charging, I think the SM should...
Thanks! Honestly, it's so dang hot here right now, I'm not in too much of a hurry, that and my dealer said the MX-R and EX-R won't be in til August, I'll have to decide between now and then which route I'm going to go.
I did get the faster charging firmware update done on my SM a few days ago...
I've called my dealer 3 times trying to get with service on the update for faster charging on my SM and have yet to get thru, ended up calling a dealer in Birmingham Alabama so they'll get my money in the future. If I have to depend on my dealer reaching out to me, I'm screwed. Also, I took a...
I can get around 43-45 miles out of my SM on back roads never going over 45 mph, relatively flat ground, 210 lbs body weight, riding in mode 1 or 2, NEVER getting hard on the throttle, I suspect around 20-25 miles hammering in mode 4.
Up for grabs is my 2018 Alta Redshift SM, I say 2018 because that's what the MSO had on it, I bought it new in September 2017, title states it as being a 2018. Bike is in showroom condition with only signs of use being very marginal tire wear, it has never been dropped or damaged in any way...
I've only ridden a handful of e bikes at this point but I find it interesting that most of them perform so differently, my buddy has a new Scott with the Shimano steps, it's not as smooth as my Bosch but feels pretty strong. Interesting to see what developments come in the future, like E...
