Cold Weather Storage and Charging Questions Answered

My experience with the latest firmware off the hip in standby is maybe 5% per week. In terms of power, that's: (5% * 6480 Wh) / (7 day * 24hr/day) = 1.9W That seems super high, so don't trust the number I just threw out. I'll run another test some time where I actually record start and end...

    Stark MX Supermoto & Warp9

Did you do any suspension modifications? What spring and damper settings? I found a Stark Varg supermoto build here where they did a bunch of fine suspension and geometry tuning but wondered to what degree those mods would even be noticeable for a layman.

    Stark Varg Ice Racing Build

It's just removing the fenders and swapping dirt wheels. The front fender is a single 11mm nut. The rear fender is that plus 2 hose clamps. The entire job could be done in under an hour if done sloppily, maybe 30 min with practice.

    Stark Varg Ice Racing Build

Updates: Just finished my first semi-formal ice race with a starting line, number plates, flags, etc. I lapped 3rd place in a 6-person race. Nothing even comes close to this bike. To be fair, only one other bike was running Canadian studs, which have a massive advantage in wet late-season...

Cold Weather Storage and Charging Questions Answered

Posting an update to this thread related to the subject matter: Per the recommendations above, I stored my Stark Varg plugged in and trickle charging to 50% at 300W for a week. When I came back to check on it, the green light usually on in the charger was off and it was making a constant...

    Stark Varg Ice Racing Build

Great questions. With respect to discharging, my experience is that that there is no warmup needed. Lithium batteries may temporarily lose capacity and limit their peak output power when it's cold but won't be damaged [source]. Some contextual math: Lithium Ion batteries charge and discharge...

Their objection was strictly aesthetic, as far as I can tell. Pretty lame TBH. Futuristic dirt bike on display in the rec room would look fucking sick.

I tried to pitch this to my parents (I store my Stark at their place until I own a house) and they were having none of it. SMH.

    VCU Internals (Gen1)

Keep preaching. I am new to this thread and was unaware. I have been doing hard shutdown to minimize phantom drain and will reverse this practice. Can you link to threads where this is discussed further? I'm curious about the other reasons.

    Stark Varg Ice Racing Build

Nice build. Based on the attached photos, it looks like you have an insulated garage. Is it also heated? That will help you a lot. If you can store your Stark EX in there, probably no concern on battery heat. With respect to studs, I've had zero issues with the studs hitting anything, including...

Stark Varg Ice Racing Build Detailed build documentation Introduction In January 2025, I converted my Stark Varg into an ice bike for racing on frozen lakes. This post documents my build in fine detail so that others can replicate it with less struggle, and maybe even improve upon it, and so...

Cold Weather Storage and Charging Questions Answered

    1. My test results and Stark's answers indicate you can leave it plugged in indefinitely now, so long as you set it to 50%. However, it's still wise to check it's state of charge regularly. I think they say every 2 weeks. 2. In the grand scheme of things, either is fine. As was stated in a...

Cold Weather Storage and Charging Questions Answered

I'm going to close off this thread by citing my sources: Stark Varg Owner's Manual: - "Chemical composition of the battery": "Lithium-ion" - "To store the Stark VARG:" ... - "Make sure the storage temperature is between 0 and 30 ºC, with a preferred storage temperature of 10 ºC." (10*C = 50*F)...
