Ok, I found a different email address and I sent them another note this morning. Hopefully they will reply.

@Matt paid his share so we all have a $13 credit due us. I think we have to rent the transponder, thats the only expense I can think of.

I am planning to head up to Matt's place to ride for a day or so the weekend of May 31 to June 2. Matt lives very near Tall Pines and can show us some of the trails that were used for last years race. Let Matt or myself know if you guys are interested in joining us. I know it's too far for most, but for @snydes it might be doable.

Have we finalized the graphics for the bikes? Are we all going to match (less individual sponsor graphics)?

The organizers replied to my class change request. We will be entering in the Team Sportsman. The team number will be 146 (pending confirmation).

From what I understand, this is one of the most hotly contested class! If we're going to be the first all electric team to compete in an endurance event like this, we may as well earn some dirt cred and compete with the big boys. No novice or wussy 40+ class for us! We're men of men! We don't drink spritzers or designer water! Rum and tap water for real men like us! Put on that game face! And get ready to RAAAAAAACCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

I'm just messing. I'm usually "stoopid" enough to try most things. I don't care what class we run in honestly...just don't be angry at me when the lap times are slower than the peewees. (I like my Scotch neat.) Now, if we could just get the guys to commit to the 24hr in Alabama so we can get registration done for that one. I really don't want to do an Ironman on an Alta...the term "fun" is nowhere in that math.

Hey guys, I am looking forward to this event and thought I share a couple of bits of information I learned from doing it last year.

Hand protection is important. The likely hood that the bars will smash a tree is very high. Many of the trails in the course are brand new single track trails that have not been ridden on and can be tight. Bark Busters is a must in my opinion. Alongside this physical protection, it is worth doing some hard riding before the race to get hand strength built up. I was doing a lot of riding before the race but I wasn't doing a ton at race pace and my hands were getting beat up. The conditions can be very bumpy/ rooty/ rocky in some sections and if it is muddy there is a lot of manhandling to get the bike headed in the right direction. One of the guys who was a part of our crew last year did the Ironman and won and his hands were messed up for two months after, mostly because of the strength required to hold on for so long. I thought I was fine because I could do long rides and ride 6 or 7 hours in a day and my hands were fine but when you are trying to go faster for extended periods of time it wears them down much faster, faster than I anticipated at least. Basically, if you do a bunch of spring riding and have bark busters you will be set.

Location of our pits. It is first come first serve. I have attached an image of where the pits are. If we can get a spot along the edge we can see if someone is going for a second lap without having to traverse through the pits. I am hoping to get out there early and reserve our spot but I thought I would mention it still. The black marks are where the pits are along the edge of the course. The blue is the course. Where the course splits is where you decide to go for another lap or take a left and go into the pits. The other area with the arrows is where the parking area is which is where most people keep their rvs and vehicles.

I’m typically not a fan of hand guards but I figured they would be essential for this event, especially since we will be riding in the dark. If you have ever got your front brake lever snagged on a vine or clip a tree you quickly become a believer!

Matt is spot on about the hand strength. One good observation I will make is the Alta is much easier to ride for extended periods. This was so much more apparent to me as of just recently when I was riding my MXR and RMZ back to back. It is much more demanding to work the ICE bike. That is not saying hand strength will not be a problem, but I do feel we will have a definite advantage riding these bikes.

I was actually thinking that the Alta would likely be easier for long hard rides. I have yet to do this and I look forward to it! My clutch hand was beat after riding in the mud at night. haha. I also hit several trees along the way. There are a lot of saplings that end up being hard to avoid. One, in particular, I think I hit every lap lol. I would recommend the handguards that have a metal bar built into them. I am not a huge fan of them myself but they are very helpful for this ha.

Thanks for the info. I'm super excited about this also. Was there time on Friday to ride on the course, or is it a blind start for everyone? Also, I order my custom jersey through CanvasMX. I'm putting together a simple tutorial on some of the basics, I will also post a zip file of all the graphics I've collected for it. Not sure I will get new graphics in time though. After buying lights and some new gear I need to slow down. My wife keeps rolling her eyes every time a new box arrives at the house. Bark Busters were one of the first things I put on. Also, I will be cutting my numbers from the Oracal Reflective material to see how they look at night.

I already made the base color changes and logos. You can delete or change the logos easily, I have a number of logos and a word doc that shows how to use their designer app. This link will only be good for another 2 weeks, then the site takes it down. The 10% off coupon code is TEN2019. I have a zip file with the logos and help file, but I'm unsure how to upload that here, any suggestions?
I also just realized that you need to select the type of jersey (they have three) and the size. So if you don't want a Large, Premium Fit, then you'd need to start from scratch. They have three different jersey styles. The Premium Fit is a tighter fit. It works great for me cause I'm tall and skinny, so a large is still comfortably loose on my torso and the sleeves are just long enough. If you have a bigger chest or like a looser fit, then maybe go for the Raglan Sleeve, or the Retro. The downside with the other styles is that it looks like you can't get the "Blitz" design in the other styles.
