How do y'all find the need to use the back brake? With as strong as the regen brake is, if I even think of touching the pedal, the rear tire locks up. So skid steer use only... For scrubbing speed off, it's regen and front brake as required, even on steep hills. Is this just a track use thing?
So this is a MX track thing... For woods riding, I am certain that I am breaking fast enough, if not I would be doing a lot of tree hugging. Since I have never ridden MX track, I am doubtlessly watching the pros do other things besides breaking for corners. If you are not using the rear brake, you are not braking fast enough. The bike doesn't have enough engine braking to warrant not using the rear brake.
Usually i'll completely lock up the rear wheel and "rear steer" the bike into a rut or corner while modulating the front brake. If you pay close attention to the pros, they do it often as well. It depends on the corner though. If the corner is fast i won't use the rear brake at all.
Here are some close ups I took to help you see how it's done. Let me know if you have questions.View attachment 2481View attachment 2482
It is just a brake tip (Hammerhead is one brand) for a KTM or Husaberg. You can get them off eBay.
I'm so slow I coast into the turns....I mainly use the rear for slide steering while my front is the main tool to slow down.
You are not slow, you are efficient.I'm so slow I coast into the turns....
thank you....my Alta is so patient. I found him rolling his eyes when he saw grandma here purchasing him. Luckily he has a good sense of humorYou are not slow, you are efficient.
