Great stuff ! Mighty intimidating from the perspective of a woods rider. And holy cow, there were a lot of bikes and riders on the track in the heats. Almost seemed like the ALTA was too quiet in competition. Thanks for taking the time to edit and post this.

Very cool. Thanks for taking the time. Maybe if it wasn’t for that Yamaha... I guess that’s racing. What’s the most you used in the heats as far as charge?

Niiiiice ride, that guy in the black jersey for sure pinched you off in the first heat, second heat you got a much better flow. Top of mods to next race would be a Air HORN from a Freight Train ;-)

Those step-ons step-offs were gnarly. What can you do with only 3/4 laps? Hardly any practice, short races, everyone riding down two classes, long day, guys crashing, bad gate pick, probably very frustrating. What surprised you the most and/or was the most enjoyable part of the experience?

Couple surprises:
- The whoop section before the finish. I had a suspicion they were going to add whoops to this year's amateur SX layouts but I didn't expect them to be nearly full sized. Glendale's amateur sx track didn't have a whoop section, rather it was converted into a set of doubles.
- How incredibly important it is to get a good gate pick and to get a good start, especially with such short races.
- How vastly different the technique is in supercross compared to motocross. I was keeping up with guys that race A class. They were struggling just as much as i was.
- I probably could have went even stiffer with the forks. Even though the track was slightly tamed compared to the pro version, i was bottoming a few times in the transitions in the rhythm section. In hindsight, i probably should have gone with the .54 springs.
- I ran a 12/52 gearing config. That 1 tooth drop in the rear made a noticeable difference. For supercross, i would have preferred the stock gearing or maybe even going larger to a 54 or 55 tooth rear. I could have benefited from a little more grunt, especially in the long rhythm section.
- A few guys paid all that money, showed up, did track walk, then went out for practice and decided the track was too gnarly for them and just left.

Most enjoyable? Hard to say. The whole experience was really cool. Taking gate drops in Angel Stadium was awesome!

Between the 4 laps in practice, 4 laps in the heat, and 3 laps in the LCQ, plus to and from the pits, i didn't even use half a charge. 3/8 at most.

Damn! This whole thing is so sketchy. So many things could have gone wrong. You did great. That rhythm section after the triple was the most difficult. You nailed the one right after it. You had to keep doubling and doubling, even though sometimes it looked impossible, else slamming into those table top faces looked brutal.

Screaming at people at this level of racing seems to have the same effect as revving the engine. They learn that you are there, but they are just more likely to slam the door. It's seems like a contact sport in supercross. Plus you need to be aware not to land on anybody or be landed on. I do not have the stomach for it!!!

Thank you for uploading. Now I feel like I have tried supercross myself. I need to master my rhythm straight skills before ever attempting anything like this in a racing situation. Damn!

Thanks for posting. Sucks luck wasn't on your side, but it looks like it still was a good day. That was a lot gnarlier than my local winter arena cross track in PA.

my arms were pumping up watching!! Fantastic video....how did you finish in the LCQ?

Not great with that poor start. After i got the bad start i just decided to ride the track and take in the experience. This year i'm going to be way more prepared and should do better.

I just watched you video. I was near you through the race 8:30 and 9:50 I was just in front of you. #22 on a Honda.

that track was fun but not enough track time for riding a track like that. If I were to do it again I would need to find an area a cross track to ride before the race to practice rhythm sections. If you find a track let me know and we can do some motos together.

Cool, I remember you! You had the gate next to me to the left in the heat. (@15:33).

Yeah, with Milestone closing, there's really no other track to practice Amateur SX on. Trying to convince the guys at Fox Raceway to build one.
