Both Tubes Patched On A New EX

So I got a new EX 3 days ago and rode it for the first time yesterday. The bike is so much fun, but I ended up with a flat front tube. After pulling it apart, I see the tube has already been patched and that is where the leak was coming from. My stock tire is now trashed from having to ride the bike back to the car. I put a new tire on the bike and used tire balls vs the junk tube they had stock. I decided to add tire balls to the rear tire and guess what? It also had a patch on it, but it was not leaking. How do you have a patched tube on a brand new bike?

mine had that "patch" too... my bike came from factory with the rear tube punctured and i punctured the front one on the third day, they are very bad... also my friend punctured his too on the second week

i mount the Michelin reinforced ones... 6 months on and no problem

i dont really now what is that "patch"

They tried to fix that with overlapping it with that ''patch''. Did kinda work but now mostly the valve stems leak. It's crap and they really should stop trying to make it happen. Any normal thin tube will do better. Hell i've had better result using and overinflating MTB tyres in lack of something better...

Hello and welcome.
As you can read in this thread, there has been an evolution for those tubes and apparently that patch was supposed to make that spot stronger, like Erwin P has just written above.

That makes sense. I could tell that once I took it apart, that tube was junk. Tire balls for the win. Just sad it happened on my first ride and ruined my stock front tire. I planned to add tire balls anyway once I wore out the stock tire.

Ya many of us got only 2 or 3 rides out of them if lucky. I switched to standard IRC heavy duty tubes and they have been great. I run the stock tires down to 6.5-8 psi. They don't like it but no flats even in the hard gnarl. I am switching over to IRC JX8s but I have ground the shit out of the Pirellis (stock on my MX1) and they take a beating.

I ride hard enduro/trails but if rode moto I would like the Pirellis they have great cornering and if you hit greasy mud with them the sidewalls have excellent bite. The stock tubes suck but the tires on the MX1 were better than I thought they would be.

Too bad you wreaked a tire. Looks like you got the Metzlers?

Not a huge deal, but just a disappointment. Everything on this bike seems so well-engineered, and then they have tubes that are slightly thinner than a condom called a "Power Tube". Imagine buying a "Power Condom" only to find out it leaks most of the time😂 Nothing powerful about that tube besides being junk! This reminds me of the hand guards on the bike that Stark brags are the lightest handguards on the market. They sure are light, and about as strong as the Power Tube🤣 So far, I love this bike, but silly things like that are annoying. Something so easy to fix, but instead, you double down and brag about how light they are. Every bike has its own issues, but most don't brag about them with names like "Power Tube". So, done with the rant, and ready to ride this thing some more. Got an MX-31 in the front and VE31S in the back, using tire balls on both. No more flats and back to the same setup I use on my 300 and 500. I love the JX8's, but they get torn up to fast here and I hate changing tire.

"Power Condoms" and "Fairy Handguards" :ROFLMAO:fall into the arena of Euro clever... So many years of KTM leaks, broken off junk, and useless noodles. It a cultural thing, goes back further than Maico and Bultaco. Its like the world according to Audi... The first kickstand on the MX1... oh my god the QA folks should have been fired. It should have been called a tipover stand.:ROFLMAO:

I love my Stark but carbon fiber really.... I would rather scratch plastic. All in all though, I have to say my experience with my Starks (I have owned 2) has been fantastic. Best bike I have ever owned. My 300 and 450 are mostly idle now.

I waited about 2.5 years for my fist Stark, and knew way in advance that the "Power Condoms" were just a gimmick to keep the claimed weight down.
I received my bike in the crate, and changed out the front condom for a standard heavy duty tube before I ever rode the bike.
I also put a tubliss on the back before I ever rode it, because that's what I used on my gas bike.
I agree with most folks that the bike is awesome, and the 2 year warranty is a big part of that awesomeness!

In case you haven't seen them, check out Tu-bliss system - horrible name, but it turns the tubed tire into a quasi-tubeless system that lets you safely run very low pressure and lets you patch the tire from the outside just like a tubeless tire. Really like them, recommend them, however they are a pain to install.

There are quite a few choices for weird and interesting tire systems on the market.
I'm tempted by this one but the price is very northen.

The description sounds very similar to the Tu-bliss system, the picture isn't very helpful in figuring out what is going on there. It is only roughly $90 for the Tu-bliss system per tire. I currently have 3 bikes running the Tu-bliss setup. I ran it on the front and rear with my ADV bike, which I think is a good idea, but the dirt bikes, I run it only on the rear.

Friends of my have the Tubliss system. But most of them have to inflate the tyre before every ride. We used to do mousse but that wears down too fast with our use.
Now we run good old tyres, preferably not too thick ones because those tend to rub and fall apart when getting hot.
