New BYD E-Vali electric van offers more cargo space than the Ford E-Transit but less range. Needs a bigger battery.

The US market may not see BYD any time soon because Ford and GM will then be dead.

Here are some specs for the BYD E-Vali electric van:
  • Battery: 80.64 kWh LFP blade battery
  • Range: 220–250 km (WLTP)
  • Charging: Can charge from 10–80% in 30 minutes
  • Motors: 150 kW rear-wheel drive base model, or a more powerful all-wheel-drive model with two 100 kW front motors
  • Dimensions: 5,995 mm long, 2,096 mm wide, and 2,780 mm tall for the standard version, or 6,995 mm long for the longer version
  • Cargo volume: 13.9 cubic meters for the standard version, or 17.9 cubic meters for the longer version
  • Gross vehicle mass (GVM): 3,500 kg or 4,250 kg depending on model
  • Payload: 700–1,450 kg
  • Features: Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot detection, and hill start assist
  • Cabin: Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless charging, voice control, power-adjustable seats, a folding table, a refrigerator cool box, and cup holders
The E-Vali is designed for urban last-mile and parcel delivery services. It has a sliding side door and side-hinged rear doors, and enough cabin space for the driver to stand upright to enter the van.

BYD is fast developing in Europe and their ads and demo cars were all over the place in Mexico.

That would hurt a lot the legacy manufacturers for sure, hence tariffs from both sides of the Atlantic ocean.
