A firmware update fixed the 103 code errors on my EXR’s. I hope your bike is still error code free!
So far, so good. Have charged it 3 times ok since last post. I'm too scared to do anything with the bike right now, but will keep you posted.....thanx for the help.

Hey Guys!
New Alta owner here. I just bought myself a birthday present. 2018 ex.
I have the rapid charger (pelican case) and after my first ride (59 miles on full charge) I’m getting the 103 error when trying to charge.
I’m going to contact the dealer but wanted to be more knowledgeable about the firmware update. Is there a name for the update or what should I ask the dealer to do?
I’m assuming they are going to play dumb or maybe legitimately not know what I’m talking about.
Thanks.
I just wanna ride 😛

Is the charger case black or silver? Black is the rapid charger, silver is the standard charger.

Have you charged the bike yet? If not, I suggest changing electrical outlets that the charger is plugged into and see if you have the same error.

Was the bike new or used?

You need MT to know if the bike as the latest firmware. Hopefully the dealer can tell you, or confirm that it's up to date.

Feel free to start your own post.

Yay!, but don't worry about pressing the middle button. It won't negatively affect anything

I have the black charger (Rapid)
I have tried outlets at 3 different shops.
The bike is new 2018 ex and was fully charged when I bought it.
I’ve been trying to contact the dealer for a couple weeks and come to find out they just went out of business. (NobleRush Auburn) Fml.
Anyone know any dealers in the PNW that could check the firmware on my bike.

I would look at the adapter closely. It's unlikely that you have 3 240vac oulets that have the generator 4 prong plug that the Alta charger comes with, so I would guess you're using an adapter like @snydes is asking about.

Have you tried a generator with the proper 240vac receptical?

I’ve tried a generator.
Ive tried an adapter.
Ive wired a 110v plug directly from the gfci. Ive tried 3 different houses.
nothing works.
If I get MultiTool and the adapters how easy is it to just update the firmware.
I’m not great at computers.

I'm in the exact same boat here Wade. Just got the bike a few days ago, tried charging for the first time and "Stopped 103" code shows up. I too have tried every single different variant. I have the cables coming that hooks the bike to a computer and my brother is going to give me a hand with updating the firmware (I'm suspecting that is the issue). I tried getting through a little bit of the instructional video that's posted on the forum and couldn't even figure out which version of this Oracle thing to install or how to install Ubuntu lol. I've never heard of a virtual machine box or Ubuntu until seeing it on these forums so 3 minutes into that how to video on here and I'm lost haha. My brother works with computers for a living so I'm sure he will have no problem with it, but for guys who aren't computer savvy, maybe a how to video on how to correctly/which version of the Oracle to download and how exactly Ubuntu is downloaded would be a big help.

I tried downloading Ubuntu on my desktop last night and it put it in the DVD drive of the computer.....I clearly have zero idea what I'm doing lol.

I would agree that the process is not for an inexperienced computer person. But it sounds like you might have some help. @TCMB371 instructions are very thorough though.

I actually picked up a used laptop from ebay for $50 to use as a dedicated Alta laptop. Had to put at least 8GB in it to run ubuntu on Windows though, or it was too slow. But because I only had like $80 into the project, I also wasn’t worried about messing up the laptop or wiping it and starting over.

So two A pack bikes, no confirmation that the bikes were updated, and both with the Rapid charger. My gut tells me the bikes need to be updated.

Did you both get the bikes with the rapid charger? Did the previous owner charge up the bikes with the rapid charger?

I got my bike with the rapid charger. The dealer I bought the bike from did not try charging the bike using the rapid charger.

Man, I'm wondering what State-Of-Charge they stored the bike at for 2 years, and whether they even bothered to check the SOC over time. The good news is that our bikes keep a running tally of charging hours, and you can see that value in MultiTool right alongside running hours.

My MXR #399 was delivered to the dealership shortly before i bought it, and it had a half charge on it when i got it, so at least i started out with a perfectly stored battery.

Ok, I think that your bike has 1.3 on it, maybe even an earlier FW, that did not support the rapid charger. The cheapest fix is to update the bike, or borrow someone's standard charger...... lol. The latter might be more difficult than updating. Update the FW and you'll be in business.

A few weekends ago I updated a 2017 MX that still had 1.3 on it. There are some nice improvements from 1.3 to 1.5.1.
