code 37 high humidity in battery pack

Help! My 2018 MXR has been charging fine again, but yesterday the check engine light came on with code 37 & saying to service the bike. It has been about 35 degrees lately....should that cause this? I rode the bike thinking it needed to warm up a bit & it ran fine but the engine light stayed on. It charged up again at the end of the day but the next morning the light was still on but now I'm at home & bike in garage. Any thoughts? Love this bike

The Code 37 (humidity sensor) was more of a bug/sensor sensitivity than a true humidity problem....
I concur.
It is not impossible that there IS water in that pack, but when we were in business, all code 37 we found where false-positives to the point we ended hiding it until we could solve the sensor issue.

It must be said though, do not blast the lower back side of your battery with a pressure washer. There is a embrace and a breather hole there through which the battery breathes. Install a skid plate to stop collecting pounds of mud in that area.

I only use a garden hose. Hopefully I'm not hurting my Alta by riding with engine light on.....don't you just love this bike?!!

You can try clearing the code and see if it comes back. The worst is you might have to turn the bike upside down, remove the bottom battery cover, and replace the desiccant bag in there.

McMaster.com sells the bags, and you can buy the butyl sealant on Amazon. No need to buy a new battery.

Thank you....went to McMaster site & see huge amounts of desiccant bags. Don't think we are capable of turning the bike upside down let alone removing battery cover, but could you tell us which bag would be used so I can order if we attempt this?

We see the vent at the back of the battery. What was your experience when removing the bottom of the battery...what might we find? Is there anything we should worry about when turning the bike right side up?

I think it's this McMaster product:

Nothing should leak, but I wouldn't do it in the living room. Be careful and don't get electrocuted.

You need to use a heat gun or a hair dryer to soften up the sealant. And pry the cover with a tiny screwdriver.

@zootie To quote @OneLapper one more time. And to also re-emphasize for the final time. You need to update your bike. Before you play with the pack and possibly damage the internals do the simple repair first.

Liquid has the bottom battery covers, so you can damage as many as you want.

If there are bottom covers available, that is the part that won't break...

I get that. But once again what is the point of damaging a good part before solving the issue with the correct course of action? TThe OP is concerned and there is a proper path to solve before going down the rabbit hole.

Wait, when troubleshooting a potentially simple problem, you mean to tell me I should avoid the most complex and risky possible solution first???

Who would ever start with the simple things, that's just crazy!

Very unlikely that there is actually water in there. I would highly recommend that you exhaust all other possibilities before opening up that pack.

Im more than happy to stay quiet. Its not like yall can fix your bikes properly...shoot one person ended up fixing a problem with black tape. Good job.
