Coolant leaked?

Went to practice in the sand today. New track, not pushing hard. Stopped after 10 minutes, noticed some fluid on the lower frame members. Tastes either like coolant or like brake fluid, I cannot tell, not a drinker of this stuff.

No LHRB fluid leaks. I wiped it off and went out again. Another 10 minutes -- same story.

I traced the leak down to this hose:

What does it mean, and what should I do?

You are absolutely right, Steve, thanks! Nothing to worry about, I just l need to check the coolant level some time later.

From the Alta Redshift owner's manual:

COOLANT AND GEAR OIL

1. The Redshift relies on coolant to keep motor and
controller temperatures in check and gear oil to
lubricate the primary drive gears.

2. It isn’t necessary to check these levels daily, but if a
leak IS discovered or the level is low chronically, the
problem must be diagnosed. It is normal for a small
amount of coolant to overflow from the system in hot
conditions under heavy load.
The overflow tube
empties out on the left hand side, near the top of the
battery. At first witness, this residual coolant can be
alarming, but it is normal. The coolant level doesn’t
have to be topped off immediately once this is seen.
Once the bike cools, add coolant as necessary. The
bike’s systems are engineered to limit power if the
bike overheats, so until a drop in power or response is
noticed, it is fine to keep riding. If a drop in power or
response occurs, it is safe to get back to your home or
transportation in this mode.

would a coolant overflow tank be good - to hold the overflow, then let it siphon back in when things cool down? Kinda like Pro Circuit does on their 250F's

That's the vent for the coolant system. Don't know why they don't route the hose all the way down so it doesn't puke all over the battery. I thought the pressurized system of the 18s did away with all that? It must have been pretty hot!
