Has anyone looked into aftermarket chargers?

While I was waiting for my EX, I saw the fast charger was $600, which I was impressed, that was a pretty good price. I bought an aftermarket 3.3KW charger for my Zero a year ago, custom connectors and what not for $550. But now they want $1100 for the same EX charger. I'm assuming that is related to the tariffs (I'm in the US)

I was curious if anyone has looked into aftermarket fast chargers? Yes, I know the tariff will be an issue either way, but it seemed a bit over the top.

And I would still love to have a 120v, 800w option that is smaller, lighter, cheaper. I'd buy 2 of those if they were reasonable.

I took a look at the OEM supplier of the charger. They say, their gadget, same type and config, will work perfectly with the bike.
They didn't do any changes on their product for STARK.

The point is the CAN communication, and the electrical capabilities. Bike and charger exchange some information periodically. A dataset about every second.

During the winter in Austria, my plan is to reverseengineer the charge- protocol.
Than choose a smaller charger and put an arduino as interpreter in the middle to keep charger and bike happy.

But now it's summer - no time for bits and bytes.
