You need to find the small torx screw on the bottom of the housing towards the front. The security screws do nothing to hold the throttle in placeNEED HELP- trying to switch bars and there is a security screw on the throttle????
theres one hiddin torx bolt that takes the throttle offNEED HELP- trying to switch bars and there is a security screw on the throttle????
That's the oneThat really little one?
That's the one
How did you do that?yes, it tightens a metal ring clamp. I was baffled also when i found it after i removed the 2 security screws lol
Take a dremel and a small grinding/cutting bit and remove the center “nub”, then use standard torx bit.How did you do that?
very carfully with a flat head screwdriver, ive been removing security bolts for years it was easy. I was thinking it was the dumbest thing that they used them till i found out they didnt hold the throttle on lol. but i was shocked they didnt grease the throttle tube i guess nobody does anymore(Im probably the only one that likes a smooth throttle lol). probably why most used bikes i buy have big groves in the bars lolHow did you do that?
They sell torx bits with the center dug out:Take a dremel and a small grinding/cutting bit and remove the center “nub”, then use standard torx bit.
They sell torx bits with the center dug out:
Klein Tools Tamperproof Bit Set (32-Piece)-32525 - The Home Depot
There are other smaller sets with just the torx too. Just search for torx security bit
hes talking about the 2 i removed that are some funky x patern design that were probably not ment to be taken off lol
no problem.I spoke before I actually looked at the screws in question... , I haven't seen any like that yet. Not typical anti-tamper screws. I'll be quiet now
Ha! I hope your idea saves someone who doesn't have the right tool!I spoke before I actually looked at the screws in question... , I haven't seen any like that yet. Not typical anti-tamper screws. I'll be quiet now
Man card revoked. For anyone who doesn't want to purchase an entire Torx set..snip...
Over-buying tools for a onetime task is a god-given right and a requirement for membership into the y-chromosome brotherhood. In my defense, I have a 60-piece torx set. But in retrospect, that was not the best use of $50. I'm torn on this one. I mean, I could have bought a number plate or a shroud (just one).
