Installing Aftermarket SkidPlate will Void Warranty

I have an AXP and like the added protection of the linkage and frame. But I also was worried about the lack of foam when installing it. I don't think I'm a super hard rider, so I decided it probably won't be a problem for me. I do run into downed trees on the trails now and then and have to bash into them to get over, but it is pretty rare. I still have the stock plate and keep debating going back to it.

Can’t you just hop onto Amazon and order the same foam that the factory uses and then install it on the APX skidplate?

You can get the foam from Stark, but it's pretty thick, and won't fit with the aftermarket skid plates.

One thing to also consider besides the added protection, is if you ride in hot weather and the advantage of the AXP and other non-stock plates for cooling. This past summer (from late June to mid Sept) I rode on multiple days that were 85F/30C or more --this is not uncommon in New England USA. The cooling fan was running almost constantly and was NOT cooling the battery only the motor.

The battery is air cooled and with the stock design a good size portion of the battery is wrapped in tight foam insulation and can pretty much get no air flow. Now that riding temperatures are below 60F/15C and cooler I may switch back to the stock plate for late fall and early winter riding where cooling is less of a concern.

Typically riding season here goes to December for me where temps are generally down to 32F/0C and I am sure my battery will appreciate that nice warm cozy foam jacket then...
