FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Minaj Group to Acquire Harley-Davidson in Landmark All-Stock Swap Deal

Milwaukee, WI, and Mumbai, India – May 27, 2025

The Minaj Group, a leading Indian automotive conglomerate, today announced its acquisition of Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE: HOG), the iconic American motorcycle manufacturer, in an all-stock swap deal valued at $1.94 billion. This historic transaction unites Harley-Davidson’s legendary heritage with Minaj Group’s global manufacturing prowess, positioning the brand for a dynamic 21st-century transformation.

Nikhil Minaj, Chairman and CEO of Minaj Group, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership:
“We are thrilled to join forces with Harley-Davidson, an icon of American freedom and rebellion. This acquisition is a bold step to revitalize Harley-Davidson, blending its soul-stirring legacy with our innovative engineering and global reach. Together, we will transition Harley into the 21st century, delivering affordable, cutting-edge motorcycles to riders worldwide while honoring its timeless spirit.”

Harley-Davidson has long been a target for global players, including Indian giants like Eicher Motors (Royal Enfield, $13 billion market cap), Bajaj Auto ($20 billion), Hero MotoCorp ($10 billion), and TVS Motor ($7 billion), as well as Chinese conglomerates like CFMoto ($3 billion) and Qianjiang Motorcycle ($1 billion). The Minaj Group, with its diversified portfolio and $15 billion market cap, emerged as the ideal partner to steer Harley through its challenges.

Harley-Davidson’s Struggles and Strategic Fit

Harley-Davidson faced significant headwinds, as reported by New Atlas: “The company recorded a 60% drop in motorcycle revenue and sold 53% fewer motorcycles in its last quarter compared to the same period in 2023.” Global trade tariffs, including 56% levies on U.S.-made motorcycles in Europe, cost Harley $166 million from 2018-2021. Its aging customer base—nearly 50% of U.S. riders over 50 by 2018—further strained sales, with North American sales down 13% in Q4 2024. The company’s electric motorcycle venture, LiveWire, faltered, selling only 33 units in Q1 2025 and incurring $250 million in losses, failing to capture younger riders. As Adventure Rider noted in its coverage of Bajaj Auto’s KTM stake, Indian manufacturers excel at cost-efficient production, a model Harley now adopts. A New Chapter for Harley-Davidson

This acquisition follows the path of Royal Enfield and KTM, both revitalized under Indian ownership. It spares Harley-Davidson the fate of Ural Motorcycles, which relies on artisan, piecewise manual assembly for low-volume, three-wheeled niche products. The deal relieves Harley’s long-suffering investors, whose stock plummeted 70% from $37.34 in 2008 to $11.96 in 2009, with minimal returns since. It also cleanses the “bad karma” from Harley’s past, including its termination of Buell, MV Agusta, and Alta Motors, which stifled innovation and left a vacuum in youth-targeted products.

Industry experts commend the move: “An Indian conglomerate like Minaj Group can slash Harley’s costs, making bikes affordable globally. U.S. operations can focus on low-volume, hand-assembled customs for loyal Boomers, who prefer three-wheelers as balance wanes. Younger riders crave clunky, loud bikes at lower prices, and women riders prioritise style and performance over origin. New Indian-designed models will refresh Harley’s lineup for global markets.”

Bright Future Ahead

The acquisition puts Harley-Davidson out of its misery, promising a vibrant future. Minaj Group plans to streamline U.S. operations, leveraging India’s cost-efficient manufacturing to produce sub-$10,000 models. This strategy targets younger riders while preserving Harley’s premium cruisers, ensuring the brand’s loyal base—described as “extremely loyal” by analysts—continues to thrive.

On the news, Harley-Davidson (NYSE: HOG) saw a healthy $2.50 uptick in early trading, reflecting market excitement for the brand’s revitalized prospects. Investors and riders alike anticipate a new era of growth and innovation for the 122-year-old icon.

Alright guys. The cat is out of the bag. I have moved this into the Humor sub-forum.

Congrats to @happyinmotion for calling it out.

But, really, didn't anyone notice any humor in this? Is our life so weird now that humor is indistinguishable from real news?

Sorry but this prank looks absolutely like a bad idea to me.
Maybe it's just me since sometimes it seems to me that I live under a rock, but I trusted it.
What if someone were considering a secondhand Harley, read the article and the decision was affected?
What if someone made some investment decision based on this article?
Yes, people are supposed to double check things, but I think that a lot of people trust you, Philip, even without having met you in person:
I find it difficult to believe that if Philip posted it, that it's not legit.
It wasn't even April fools' day.

Nikhil Minaj? you didn't realize at that point? someone has to point out that harley is becoming a joke. I've owned 41 motorcycles and not 1 harley. if I lived in the mid west I would have bought a xr750 but now I would buy the Indian. harley never made a bike I wanted during the time I wanted one.

I get your point. But if anyone here really cared about Harley Davidson and it's motorcycles, my expectation was that they would have been absolutely outraged by this unexpected change in ownership. They would have thoroughly read the article and all its jokes that are directed at Harley and them personally, as a Harley rider. This obviously didn't happen. For better or for worse, nobody here cares about Harley motorcycles to this extent. We are safe. The danger has been averted.

What if someone made some investment decision based on this article?
Exactly! We need more good investment decisions. I was hoping that some rich guy in India or China would read this and get an idea to save Harley from their own mismanagement and value destruction. There are many well-qualified potential buyers who can run this backward company better.

What if someone was contemplating the idea to buy some Harley stocks since they are low in value hoping that they would have got better in the future? That fake article is pretty long, maybe someone just skims through it, doesn't get that it's fake and decides to act consequently.
Did you make it using AI?
Anyways, I guess that this is the forum that you created and you can very well spread fake news for fun; I'll keep that in mind.

If someone invests their money based on an article that they couldn't be bothered to read carefully enough to determine if it was genuine or satire, they obviously have money enough to waste. Consequently, they would deserve the lesson of loosing some investment money.

Sounds to me like @Philip is doing a fine community service by posting the article, keep up the good work!

Probably a bit too far unrelated, but I'm gonna tell this story anyway...

Several years ago I was courted by Buell Motorcycles to interview for the position of manufacturing/engineering and design lead for their new line of bikes (to be built overseas - China and India!) They set me up with tickets, hotel, rental car and all the right things. I spent a few days at their facility in Wisconsin and they treated me like a king. I drove around looking at the area for suitable residence and such. While in the hotel one evening I witnessed the sky open and cover the ground in several inches of snow and contemplated the more than generous offer they presented. Once the trip was over I returned home to California, where I reflected on a.) What I was to have to adjust to if I decided to make the move to Wisconsin and, b.) if I would be better served to accept the offer, or stay at home in CA. Despite the ridiculously amazing offer made by Buell, something just felt odd. So, I declined this dream job. Within weeks of me doing that, HD pulled to plug on Buell and left everyone in that division/company unemployed, including Eric Buell. Lucky for me I dodged a bullet, to speak.

Like I said, unrelated but I felt like I should share. Probably because of how HD does things that aren't always the best for everyone which made me fall for @Philip 's humorous post.

Philip, I thought it was funny. very few people on this forum would be riding electric motorcycles if it wasn't for you creating this and bringing the e community together to help and support each other and the sport. if they don't like your forum they can start their own. I enjoy a funny story now and then instead of a story about yet another way the stark company has let someone down. keep up the great work.

Wait a second, I am surely not questioning Philip as a person in general. He sounds like a smart man who has done a lot for people who like electric dirtbikes, surely more than I have done. He probably is a better person than me, it doesn’t take much.
Still, I am questioning the objectively wrong decision to spread fake news which apparently was not so blatantly fake since someone believed it. I may not be a man as great as he is but when I fuck up I admit it.

Hey guys. It's all good. No Harley owners, poor retirees, or personal feeling were injured in the making of this joke.

Humor remains part of our lives, which is great. There are numerous parody news and social media accounts such as the Onion, Babylon Bee, SNL, and many others. The fake news article wad signed "Babylon Onion Moto Business News". There are only so many warnings and disclaimers that entertainers can post before the jokes become unfunny. Let's keep the jokes funny, please.

Additionally, making fun of Harley owners has been everyone's favorite pastime anyway. Nothing is really new here. If you have more Harley jokes, bring them on.

Ok, Philip, as you wish.
Just don't you forget what happened to the owner of the Tycho Crater Area Riders forum (uww.TCAR.moon) some years ago.
He spread some fake news about Red Planet Roamer Limited, located in Cydonia, having being acquired by the giant Olympus Bikes Corporation. Well, some owners of Red Planet Roamer MX450s didn't like it at all and retaliated by flooding the Tycho Crater with molten cheddar cheese while that owner was having a track day! Now since all the crater is made up of green cheese you can easily imagine what happened when his Alta (can't use ICEs with no oxygen), equipped with green cheese tyres, suddenly leaned on cheddar! Luckily the smaller gravity made the impact softer, but he learnt the lesson.
BTW it was all over the internet back then, not sure about the source but I believe it was MoonDailyNews.
