Every pcba has a bootloader. So unless your playing with the parts...I dont see the rationalization of your post.

Not to take sides since I would like to consider all parties here as friends... but before this escalates and feelings are hurt (since so far this has been civil), I ask that we please kick it down a notch or debate this particular issue (bootloaders) privately.

WOW! You are adventurous and quite determined as I know from personal experience how difficult it is to open up the ACM without damaging the circuit board or components on it. Man, that looks pretty old, way different from any ACM I've seen (although the basic layout is recognizable). The key is what's on the other side!

On a side note I do believe the issue of bootloaders is relevant to the ops post. Rasheed is correct, every module has an associated chip which requires a bootloader, some have several. If any of those few but critical components fail you'll be SOL, period. And if the Ops modules are bootless he would want to know it (that module will never work) and focus his efforts accordingly. End of bootloader subject. However, that's doesn't mean that the thousands of other electrical and electronic components within the Alta can't fail and be subsequently repaired.

There are no wireless features that were part of production in the ACM (other than swapping your SD card for a wirless one to download ride data...)

I thought that looked like a gps module. I just bought a little gps shield for an arduino, I stick it in my backpack when I go riding so I can log the trails around me. There are so many trails near me I need it to keep track of the good riding spots. I'm eventually going to mount this gps directly to the bike with an accelerometer so I can see which hills are the steepest... I'm in a hunt for hill climbs, this bike makes them so much fun.

Looks good to me! Probably the newest part in the bunch. Those couple chips with the silver paint markings is what you want to see.

Yes I see what you mean about the silver graffiti on the chips. there is hope for the battery, at least.

privateer703, i saw you post about riding the Cove, I'm not that far from there. Our riding areas seem to overlap so maybe we could share notes...

The Cove is pretty awesome. The trails are pretty crazy though, a LOT of rock, but some pretty awesome hill climbs. Also, where else can you strap an AR-15 to your back, ride trails and then go blast steel targets....legally.

Status update. Battery appears to look normal but failed to work when installed in my working bike. Working bike's battery has older firmware than what is available for updates.

I think the firmware in the working bike is incompatible with what I have available for the old battery. I'm scared to update my working bike so I'd like to put the same firmware as is found on the working battery onto the non-working battery.

Working battery is running Bcux2.15.1 firmware

If you extract the firmware zip file, there are individual aebin files inside. Use the loader tab and select the aebin for the bcu and multitool will upload that individual firmware onto the bike, instead of uploading the firmware for all modules.

Thanks, I tried a couple of the older aebins from the zip files, neither worked. They are all newer than bcu 2.15.1. I hope to find someone who could share 2.15.1.aebin
