MXR making noise.

My bike is not happy being ridden slow.

Has anyone else experienced this noise and if so, what was the fix?
No noise on acceleration just at the end of slowing down. Starts at about 4 mph.
125 hours, 1997 miles.

Mine does it a little, especially when pushing the bike around. Imo it may be wear in the reduction drive, gears and/or splines.

Chain is in good condition? Not rubbing on anything?
Gear oil level is fine (can be seen through the motor gear cover window)?

It's normal, at 430 hrs and 7500 miles there's been no issues with mine. It seems to sound worse after a bit of riding and the motor is a little warmer.

so put your worry beads away and ride.

X ring chain did that on mine......swapped it out for a non x ring .....noise gone

I recently swapped chain and front sproket, found that the fork guard was warn out, the chain was rubbing on the aluminium .. I cut out some tubes and put it under de fork guard.. and the sound was gone.. I could not find on Ebay the part.

it was the master link clip hitting the guide a rivet type master link might have worked

Mine has twice the mileage and hours as yours six years old and is still running extremely well . Normal little noise when warm it always did it. Go ride your Alta

@Fog 25 - check your frame sliders and also chain tension. Along with that, the oil inside the reduction gear side. Sometimes the oil gets contaminated.
