My son's Oset 24R

My son got an Oset 24R for his 13th birthday (Bar Mitzva).

We had the best time riding enduro today together. the Oset & Alta played along nicely, and it was obvious that things that I learn in 3 weeks, he gets in 3 minutes. this is his 2nd ride ever on a dirt bike. He did really great.

That looks like a familiar combo! My son (who is now 14) also switches back and forth between the Alta and the Oset 24. The Oset isn’t very fast, but it does teach balance. Since riding the Oset, his riding skills on the Alta have improved. I did put riser bars on the Oset, since my son is almost 6 feet tall now! We also got a bigger battery, since the stock battery didn’t seem to last very long. The new battery can easily last 5-6 hours doing trials and slow trails.

14 years old and riding an Alta. That's impressive!

We rode for about 3 hours on the stock battery, and had some left. However, as can be seen in the video, it was slow technical ride. The kind that does not waste much energy

One of the best things I did when I started riding with my kids, especially when they were new, was to install some wireless intercoms. Most folks only consider them for street riding, but they are super useful on the trail. Definitely beats yelling, even if everyone is on electric bikes.

What is your favorite piece of gear?

Not saying which is the most important, but what one thing do you say "man I like this" every time you put it on? For me it's knee brace socks, I have a pair of Fox Racings product and I love them. Keeps the knee braces (and even knee guards!) from rubbing against your skin and the socks stay...

Using the Oset mainly for Enduro. Range & rear tire are borderline for this kind of riding, but still a lot of fun.
