There were actually four! Dave was an engineer fresh out of university so was a junior member of the team, but he was there before I was so we all felt he deserved the co-founder title as well. The word is free and I think Silicon Valley places way too much exclusivity on it - whole lawsuits have been fought over it. :eyeroll
He was integral to our early R&D efforts and has since left to join Apple, so is now an honored and distinguished alumnus. Since he's not here anymore and was a junior team member he doesn't get the same mentions in current press, but once a founder always a founder.
(edit: on all of the technical stuff, I have been handcuffed, bound, gagged and beaten into accepting that we will neither confirm nor deny... sorry).
