Is that the "Heads Up" display?

Glad the surgery went well. Recover quickly and keep the happy face.

What made you decide to have the plate removed? I have a similar item installed although with twelve screws. Busted my clavicle in four places/five pieces. The bone healed quickly and completely, but it has bothered me non-stop since installed in 2015. The surgeon says they can take it out but has strongly discouraged me from having it removed (another surgery and rehab, additional nerve damage, holes in the bone which will need to heal, risk of infection and other complications, etc, etc).

My doctor wanted to take it out because I still ride dirt bikes did not want it to break closer to the Sternum . He says sternum very long and very painful recovery.
Had it taken out yesterday have full movement with with it today. Doctor says soon as the incision heals up 7-10 days will be good to go.
Clavicle is probably at 85 to 90% strong right now 4-6 weeks for the screw holes to fill-in. This morning the incision is just a little stiff nothing major. If you’re still riding dirt bikes I’d recommend having it removed. The clavicle is the first line of defense for your shoulder with plate on it the impact will travel to a different spot and could possibly do worst damage.

Thanks for the response. Yes, my doctor definitely knows I am still riding and competing. That was a detailed part of our initial discussion. He told me that he selected the plate and installed it in a non-standard way because of that. Surgery took almost three hours.

He is part of a big time sports orthopedic group and he supports some of the Atlanta pro teams and formerly supported the NE Patriots so hopefully he has a clue. We even had the discussion about the clavicle as the "fusable link" in the upper body structure. If it continues to bother me I'll follow up with him. Perhaps I have an atypical situation due to the complexity of the break. Thanks again for the reply.

I was told there are only two types of dirt bike riders, those that have broken their collarbone and those that will.

Your correct it took 49 years before I broke mine 👎 Was shooting for 50 I guess I’ll have to start the calendar over 👍before the next one.
