New VARG Software Update.

New Beta app?

I just got the email saying "You're one of our most active VARG MX riders, and we want you to be the first to experience what's coming next. Be the first to ride with Varg App 3.0." So I've joined the beta programme...

...but after updates my MX 1.0 is still running 1.2.0 firmware and app version 1.0.187. So anyone else joined and noticed any difference at all?
that could be the update for the "advanced modes" and things that the gen 2 have... its a big update for the 1.0, they have been developed it for a long time

Update done - it sat there for a while then went through the usual update process.

Firmware 3.0.3
App 1.8.0

UI refreshed, none of my settings changed except the timers reset to default. The History section is much faster now - my rides would sometimes take minutes to display in there and now they are shown instantly.

There are lots more features: trails, navigation, tracks, and advanced power settings. There are all in the Pro version. I get that no-one likes subscriptions but hey, I think it's still cheaper than fuel and oil for a gas bike.

I'm going to go and try this update just as soon as the weather forecast is not "Significant heavy rain and gales for parts of New Zealand".

The long-awaited update has finally arrived for the first users. It took Stark a while to make it happen, it wasn't as easy as it seems. Enjoy!

mine as well.
i saw a "max" instead of "100%" for the first time.
sam does not know anything about it yet.

... and my mobile charger still does not work :-( ... so i am still waiting for the promised update to get it connected with the bike again.

i had the "max" thing since forever, more than 1 year ago, its nothing new

mh ok... my varg is only a few weeks old and so far i never had the "max" seen on the display. but so far it also struggled to go beyond 97%.
my dealer said it is normal that it takes a few loading cycles until it goes up to 100%.
i thought the "max" was related to the firmware update as it showed up just after the update was installed.
nevermind then...

as i said i was hoping that my mobile charger goes back to work after this update. but it did not... that sucks a lot as i have no chance to drive any bigger distances.
stark support said three weeks ago, they will fix this issue within a few days.

I think you got your numbers mixed up.

It should be:
Firmware 1.8.0
App 3.0.3

At 3.0.6
1.10.0

Not seen this before... Dashboard under settings. Can select either standard or Maps.
Not new. It came with App 3.0x.
On last update from few weeks ago there was a changelog window, but it mentioned only some trivial improvements and disappeared.
Mine is still on FW1.8.

@OpaTsupa Not surprised. Updates are coming through thick and fast ATM. Without proper change logs it's almost impossible to keep up without digging through each option/setting.

I have been asking for release notes for 2 years. It is considered standard practice with software to provide them. They typically include what's changed, what is fixed, and what is new. Even closed dictatorships like Apple and Microsoft do this. You don't put any IP at risk by doing this and users, supporting vendors, and those who service the products know what specific changes have occurred.

I have been a software engineer for over 25 years and I have never seen this not done. At first I thought it was just an omission of getting started but it seems like it is a practice. Stark should fix this if they want to continue to put software out there and utilize their core product as a "platform" -- best practices can eliminate confusion and churn and also give customers confidence in the product and company.

at 97% is when the bike starts to decrease the current charging power to balance the cells... it slows down little by little until it reaches 0kw, its a normal behaviour

good luck with your problem

At this point I feel like it's a one-man team making changes on the fly.
It might be too much work for the poor dude to find all the post it notes he left around the office and decipher what he wrote on his left hand last night. Not mentioning finding the candy wrapper he scribbled on his master plan last week at the cafeteria.

Maybe you just have different work standards 😆

Stark is going down the clasic EV/SV pipeline, they simply do not understand how to build software at scale and haven't hired people with the experience to do it properly. Also worth noting they are legally required to do a lot of this (release notes, update notifications, etc) under EU directives (2019/770 and 2019/771) and Spanish regulations (TRLGDCU, Article 126).

I just got update 1.10 with app 3.03 and Svag still works. Try opening svag with the bike off then restart the Arkenstone. As soon as phone starts open svag then turn on bike. When Varg app opens minimize it,go to svag and connect. You may have to keep trying until it works
