Sorry about my previous post - turned out to be something quite different than the shock-bolt washer. Here's what I think happened, for any who read this crappy thread 
- upon removal this morning, a small chunk of bolt thread chipped off and damaged the innermost thread (aluminum curl and chunk visible). After taking poor measurements under the bike I assumed it was the bolt shoulder that did the damage, but when I saw the chip missing from the bolt a little while ago I realized it wasn't. The OEM Alta bolt screws into the Ohlins clevis all the way finger-tight without any washer at all, but I would still use the Ohlins washer. The bike's back together now, torqued up well, bolt head clears the dogbone fine, hoping for the best.
