Powertrain failures?

So seems like I'm seeing powertrain failures a lot with the stark vargs right now. Mine has done the same thing since the winter and this grand update. At the dealer for powertrain failure they said. Complete replacement happening. So is anyone else dealing with this and how did it turn out? This a long term fix or a short time throw parts at it? And how do we prevent this from happening again outside of warranty? These updates seems to be the issues imo. Like phones update and always get f*cked up afterwards. I'm not down for it, bike was absolutely perfection until I went OTB up a face of a jump with the bike cutting off on me. I'm not buying new powertrains every year il tell ya that.

MX 1.0 last fall full power train replacement. I asked the dealer same question is there anything I can do to prevent this? The answer was no these bikes are actually very reliable. Ok I am a vet rider I do not put allot of strain on the motor and battery and it all broke at 80hrs of ride time.

I love hate my Varg.

There have been a sprinkling of reports, but nothing widespread AFAICT. Most reports have the Varg being pretty reliable so far. It would be disturbing and probably loudly reported if this was a really common problem.

That said, I think the Varg usecase is more demanding than previous iterations of electric dirtbikes i.e. people use them on real MX, HE, trail, and hard core riding and will present challenging wear conditions. And I agree, a 2500.00 drivetrain replacement is not something folks will want to do regularly, out of warranty it will certainly erode any of the maintenance cost previously saved vs ICE.

I am going into my 3rd year of Varg ownership and like most folks around here I have been super happy with my Varg MX 1.0 it is the best bike I have ever owned at this stage. I have owned my Yams and KTMS for long periods for example my WR450f is 12 years old had little lifetime extra maintenance and is still rock solid reliable, we'll see how the Varg compares to that down the trail.
