Rear brake line / compatibility with KTM / getting home with no rear brakes

Two weeks ago I took a slow speed fall on a rocky trail in West Virginia. When I picked the bike up to continue the climb up the hill I found that I had lost the rear brakes and when I looked down I could see brake fluid all over the rear wheel. When we got to the top of the hill, I saw that the rear brake hose had been cut on top of the swingarm about 4 inches from the caliper. I don't think this was a problem with the Stark, just one of those weird things that happens when riding off road.

Here's what I learned:
  • The rear brake line from a KTM/GasGas does have the right connectors but is about 2 inches too long. It will work but it is chaffing against the back of the motor housing and I will need to order a Stark brake line unless an aftermarket company starts making one.
  • If you need to get back to home base with no rear brakes, you can turn the regen up to 100% and it will help on steep descents. It's not perfect but it's better than only using your front brake.
  • If there is a master list of parts compatibility between Starks and KTM's the rear brake line is not an exact match.
