Hey all! New member here and my first post.
My background: I've owned 9 motorcycles in my life, with the last 3 being supermotos that i built up myself from track model dirt bikes. I am comfortable around engines, general mechanical stuff, and DC electrical systems. I love working on my own stuff and don't mind digging in deep.
Situation: The CEO of my company has a 2018 Alta redshift SM that he got for $2k a few months ago as it "had charging issues" and the previous owner was sick of it. CEO guy doesn't know anything about this stuff and made me the offer of: If i can get it charging and working then i can have it. Should be a sweet deal I hope!
He says the bike gives error code 005 when plugged in. Information online seems limited on this one, but i'm mostly finding a "soft stop" error and possibly something to do with the main contacts for the battery unit. I'll get to look at the bike myself next week and will trailer it to my garage to start getting my new ride working. Any suggestions on what i can look for? Usually with something such as this I'd look to reset the error code or the system itself and see if charging resumes, not sure if something like that is possible or if the issues must be tackled in order to proceed past the error.
Thanks everyone! Hoping to be part of the electric crew soon
