Shortening Handlebars

Has anyone had any luck at shortening the handlebars on the EX? We ride some pretty tight stuff and I would love to be able to take a 1/2 inch off of each side.

I did exactly that on my MX; 1/2" off each side.
But if you are running the wires through the handlebars, you may have issues...

I took 3/4” off each side & had to re-drill the holes for the wires to go in, no big deal. But it made my full size Cycra ProBend bar guards a little trickier because of the reduced real estate.
